So I guess Reagan was dangerous too....he rode the same type of popularity in the 80's Reagan had a 20+ year record of conservatism before running for president - supporting candidates, promoting it via speeches and op-eds, as Governor of California (no, he wasn't perfect, but saved the state from the first Gov. Brown), etc. So that is a very imperfect comparison to make.

No, Reagan was never a populist. Reagan ran on pure Conservative principles.
I am not a newby to conservatism. Populism such as Perot’s, Buchanan’s, Sander’s, and Trump’s is tied to personality rather than philosophical principles.
If you don’t know the difference, then that explains it.
