We need more, COME ON! !
Article V status report.
This is scary. WTH are they thinking. Sometimes even conservatives suffer radicals and fools among them.
It’s as though no one knows that once the The United States Constitution is opened for discussion, in a Convention of States, that all sides have standing and rights to slash and burn any or all articles, to add and subtract from the great document.
There is an unknown outcome, beginning at the drop of the gavel and virtually no guarantees our little nitpick gets the vote when the universe voting is both Left and Right, ISLAMIC representation and CHRISTIAN.
Yikes. Beware what we wish for, when Pandora’s Box is finally opened.

The amendatory process under Article V consists of three steps: Proposal, Disposal, and Ratification.
Proposal:
There are two ways to propose an amendment to the Constitution.
Article V gives Congress and an Amendments Convention exactly the same power to propose amendments, no more and no less.
Disposal:
Once Congress, or an Amendments Convention, proposes amendments, Congress must decide whether the states will ratify by the:
The State Ratifying Convention Method has only been used twice: once to ratify the Constitution, and once to ratify the 21st Amendment repealing Prohibition.
Ratification:
Depending upon which ratification method is chosen by Congress, either the state legislatures vote up-or-down on the proposed amendment, or the voters elect a state ratifying convention to vote up-or-down. If three-quarters of the states vote to ratify, the amendment becomes part of the Constitution.
Forbidden Subjects:
Article V contains two explicitly forbidden subjects and one implicitly forbidden subject.
Explicitly forbidden:
Implicitly forbidden:

What I didn't know is for every amendment you have to start all over again with the process. Granted they do one, get to know what they are doing it will go sooner and or States will either want to do more or resistance will mount.
I came out disheartened as to what a slog this will be. Compared to the Battle of the Bulge it maybe duck soup and the Republic is worth it.
However, I am not sure Levin and anyone else has prepped us for the long journey it will be IMHO....
Don’t be so scared. Any proposed amendments have to be approved by 3/4 of the states.

That’s no comfort, not anymore. Our population is not like yesterday. There is plenty of risk, no guarantees, and an unknown outcome. If we aren’t revolutionary enough to enforce the blessed Constitution, in a stand alone manner, without risking the whole document, we hardly deserve it anyway.
imho.
If a delegate from New York introduced an amendment proposal to repeal the 2nd Amendment at a Convention of the States called for the purpose of Levin's book and the Georgia language, the presiding officer would gavel it down as outside the purview of the convention's authorized purpose. By that I mean that the distinguished gentlemen from New York would have to fight for a separate convention to address that topic, and he would have to convince at least 34 state legislatures that a convention to repeal the 2nd Amendment was worthy of consideration. Good luck to that.
What do you suggest? A full blown bloody revolution where the sitting government is overthrown and replaced with strict constitutionalists?
Which Constitution? That's the whole problem.
The federal entity observes the Constitution to the very letter. Unfortunately, it's the Living Constitution, the Constitution of Penumbras and Emanations, the Constitution whose meaning changes even though the words remain the same, the Constitution twisted into a pretzel by two centuries of case law and precedent, that the federal entity observes.
It does not observe the Constitution of Original Intent that Robert Bork called "the Constitution in Exile." It is this issue that 4 states so far wish to remedy. The chances of Congress formulating and passing an amendment that trims federal power are slim and none. Only the states, through the Framers' Article V Convention mechanism, can formulate such an amendment and put the federal entity back in the constitutional prison that Madison designed for it.
Thank you Publius for a ray of hope here.....
Nonsense.
If the current path we are on remains towards BIGGER government, no matter which party takes the executive branch in 2016, it makes it all the more imperative to get an Article V amendment convention going into full swing.
To summarize from a previous post by GraceG:
1. Elect More Republicans - Failed due to RINO/Uni-party confluence.
2. Article V Convention of States to propose Amendments - Needed to try to take power from the federal government back to the states and reel in the federal leviathan.
3. State Nullification - Last ditch effort to try to take power back from the federal monster, though by this point it may be too late.
4. State Secession - Could either end up peaceably like the breakup of the Czechoslovakia in 1993 or a brutal:
5. Civil War II like the first one.... The longer we wait on #2, the more likely #3, then #4 and finally #5. .
So, do we do nothing and just wait for # 5?
Quick review: We need 34 states to pass an application, then Congress shall, by law, call a Convention of States as soon as it receives applications from 2/3 of the State Legislatures. That's 34 states. (So far both legislative chambers of 4 States, {Alabama, Alaska, Florida and Georgia}, have completely passed their resolutions and 36 state legislative chambers or bodies have filed or passed resolutions.) Amendments are proposed and voted on at the convention. Each Amendment must be ratified by 3/4 of the states in order to become part of the US Constitution. That's 38 states.

Most FReepers are aware of these links, but I post anyway for review and for people new to Article V. It is our responsibility to make Article V the most understood aspect of the US Constitution.
