Will Smith will be joining his wife Jada Pinkett Smith in boycotting the 88th Academy Awards over this year’s all-white acting nominees, the actor said on Thursday’s Good Morning America on ABC.
“My wife’s not going. It would be awkward for me to show up with Charlize [Theron],†Smith joked to Robin Roberts. “No, we’ve discussed it, and we’re a part of this community, but at this current time, we’re uncomfortable to stand there and say this is okay.â€
Pinkett Smith posted a video online last Sunday, in which she lamented the treatment of black actors in entertainment.
“Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources, and we put them back into our communities, into our programs, and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit that are just as good as the so-called mainstream ones,†she said.
The actress’s statement came following an announcement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) that all 20 Oscar nominations in the four major acting categories had gone to white actors for the second consecutive year.
Smith, who many believed would pick up a nomination this year for his role in Concussion, was among those left off the ballot.

I guess Will Smith missed Creed. A movie and a role The Fresh Price could only dream of being in. Will Smith is an marginally talented action movie hack. Funny part is he is part of the minstrel show also, along with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. You are the one still on the plantation Will. Creed was as color neutral a movie as I have seen. The protagonist was a black man who was college educated, had a real job beyond rapping and took responsibility for his past. The money quote from the movie...”I want to prove I not a mistake.” The average American could give a wit about your color Will, we still applaud tenacity, hard work and overcoming obstacles. Boycott the Oscars and I’ll boycott your crappy movies, you and your equally marginally talented wife.
That was fun to watch. Trump has been a big deal for a long, long time. This was during his Marla Maples period. Trump likes his women tall like Marla. So different that Jeb! Of course, love comes in all sizes, so good for Jeb to have his soul mate.

Political correctness is America’s god. And it is killing her.
Diversity in nature is beautiful. But diversity can become chaos if it is worshipped over all else. Merit belongs up high in our priorities as do strength, kindness, and selflessness.
These qualities should be applied by everyone able. That makes us a superpower. Our ability to be GOOD, HUMBLE, and STRONG made us a superpower.
Diversity is a sensed result. It’s not a character strength. It just means various entities appear different from each other, like food at a picnic. It’s all but pointless and doesn’t add value by itself.
Imagine two 5 man swim teams. One one team, all the people are of different races and nationalities. On the other, all are the same, say Japanese. You see the two teams. You can’t say ANYTHING about them as swimmers. Not one thing. Thus the diverse team can’t be in any way superior, if that is all you know about it.
“Diversity” is often AN OBSTACLE TO BE OVERCOME

I think it is safe to say not only have they destroyed any chance of getting movie roles that aren’t in the genre of the Color Purple, they killed their ugly woman dressing son of a chance to promote his career.
