Today we add Tony Perkins to the list of people who must be wrong for Donald Trump to be right.
The episode illustrates the pettiness of the man, the smallness of the man. Trump is ignorant of the Bible yet pretends otherwise to a gathering of evangelicals and when his own gaffe exposes him as a hypocrite, he blames his supporter.
When Donald Trump is in the White House, who will stop the buck, for sure it won't be The Donald.
He’s a 69 year old spoiled brat. People need to think long and hard about handing the reins of the country to that.
Which is the real "takeaway" here. Other politicians have done this (Eisenhower used to do it all the time, although his smallness is now dwarfed by that of Obama -- if you'll pardon the oxymoron).
If I had to find a word to sum up Trump's character, "expediency" would be a finalist. Conservatives who've married their hopes to Trump are standing on a banana peel, and I think they'll realize that before the election, when he turns his attention to the "general population".
If he doesn't deliver on immigration (by repealing the 1965 Act as a national failure, for example), it's "game over" just as if we'd elected Hillary.
