Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump late Wednesday pinned blame for his scriptural gaffe - saying "Two Corinthians" instead of "Second Corinthians" - on evangelical activist Tony Perkins.
"Tony Perkins wrote that out for me - he actually wrote out the 2, he wrote out the number 2 Corinthians," Trump said on "CNN Tonight with Don Lemon." "I took exactly what Tony said, and I said, 'Well, Tony has to know better than anybody.'"
The slip-up drew laughs from the crowd at evangelical Liberty University and has called into question the religiosity of the billionaire businessman.
But Trump said he has since heard from "a lot of people" who tell him that he was actually correct.
"It's a very small deal, but a lot of people in different sections of the world say 'two,' and I've had many, many people say to me," he said.
"My mother, as you know, was from Scotland, and they say two," he added.
Trump is DOOMED! Doomed I tell you.
He figured you would be smart enough to figure it out, guess he figured wrong
Trump: 'Tremendous sin' for Cruz not to disclose bank loans
..."[Cruz's] trying to be like he's Robin Hood and the banks, he's gonna get the banks," Trump said on The Howie Carr Show, first reported by BuzzFeed.
"But in the meantime, he's borrowed from the banks, he's personally guaranteed, and he didn't put them on his personal financial disclosure form, which is a tremendous sin. I mean, that's a horrible thing he did. And he didn't disclose all of this information."
The New York Times reported last week that Cruz had failed to disclose two loans totaling $1.5 million to the FEC in 2012, but included them in a separate financial disclosure. Cruz has defended it as a paperwork error.
Shortly after the report came out, Trump said during an interview with Bloomberg News: "Well, I heard it's a big thing. I know nothing about it. But I hear it's a very big thing. I hope he solves it. I think he's a nice guy and I hope he gets it solved."......
Two or second. The important issue of the day. Really?
It doesn’t appear to be a “gaffe”. It appears that he was reading it like it was something foreign to him.
Or he could just be honest... say something like: I made that mistake because I am not very religious, I am a business man.
I have no problem with people who aren’t religious saying that they aren’t, we are all lost sinners. I am saved by God’s grace, but yet still a sinner. I pray that God forgives me of all the sin I have had in my life.
I have no idea what his personal salvation is, and do not care know. All I ask is people be genuine.
Sounds like Obama and Hillary. If it’s “really a very small deal” then shut up about it and quit blaming others for your ignorance, you friggin’ no good, carpetbagging shyster
His gaffes are just small potatoes - like praising DiBlasio. Everything related to anyone else threatening his lead is “Yuuuge.”
Dole likes him. That's all you need to know.
The man is creepy.
I’ve heard people refer to it that way before. Non-issue is right.
Even when Trump explains how he is a complete phony like this the Trumpistas rally “Go gettem Don’
Not only is he a complete phony, he blames his own failing on someone else.
LOL...Much ado about nothing.
In Scotland they pronounce Isaiah with an emphasis on the ‘I’ in the middle......whereas we ephasize the ‘A’ sound
So.....so what!
“The important issue of the day. Really?”
I think the important issue of the day is Trump like Obama will not admit mistakes and always blames others.
When you get paid by the number of threads, it's a big deal.
I don’t see at as a big issue. I do see it as an indicator that he us not very familiar with how most people quote scripture references. Which could possibly be an indicator that he doesn’t spend much time with scripture study. An observation to add to your picture of the man.
“Or he could just be honest... say something like: I made that mistake because I am not very religious, I am a business man.”
He could be honest, but obviously he can’t
