The conservative movement is not as conservative as you think. That is the point.

So supporting a really not conservative is the answer?

Conservative Orthodoxy today is embodied in the philosophies and actions of the Republican party.

If true then Conservatives would be leading the Republican Party not Crony Corporatists like Trump/McConnell

I’ve been following Trump since last July and have yet to hear him promote single payer. It isn’t on his issues page either. So when he talks about getting rid of Obama Care, the precursor to single payer, I have to wonder where this idea comes from—if it is present day or years ago.

Trump in one of the debates, first one maybe, said single payer is still a good thing.
Trump said you have to cover all.

That was last year.

I gave my opinion. Like it or not like it I don’t care.

If you don't care, why did you post back? Maybe you should get out more. Take a walk. Smell some fresh air. See how life is outside of your little matrix.

“Cruz is consistent Conservative”

Not on illegal immigration, which is my #1 issue.

He’s handed out bears, been for legalization, been silent, condescendingly said Americans don’t want to have that conversation, won’t deport, then will deport, was against Prop 187, and now is copying Trump’s very conservative position.

Disingenuous.

actuaally he is. H1 visas is legal immigration

Trump however is very inconsistent on illegal immigration.
He favored amnesty, favored amnesty for illegals who re-enter the country and he even funded pro-amnesty candidates. Ok Trumps very consistent!

Hey, hey, this is great thinking.   Ironically, we both responded with long comments on this thread.   Mine appeared just before yours.   And I think our comments reinforce each other because we both try to cut through the noise of policy positions.

That is your choice. I’m not saying one has to choose a certain way.

I’m Pro-American.

I’m not racist, I’m Pro-American.

I’m not Republican, Democrat, Liberal or Conservative; I’m Pro-American. Without our country, we are left fighting for the remaining crumbs of our liberty and those labels are merely words without any application in our new reality.

Trump has been consistent throughout this campaign. His policies are very conservative.

Cruz has been neither.

We each have to go with who we think will do what we want.

I guess we will see if he wins whether you will ever admit to being wrong with him or you will be blind sheep like the democrats are with Obama.

I do know this, just as Levin was saying today, that if he doesn’t knock the Alinsky (sp) tactics off he is going to alienate large portions of the true conservatives of the republican party. The personal unfounded accusations, childish implications are eliminating huge voters trump cannot get elected without. I for one have already done so and my three sons, all Eagle Scouts, all college educated and professionals are just about to bail on him. My wife never did like him which doesn’t surprise me because she has always had a better first impression awareness of a persons character than me. So there are five votes in probably the most conservative part of the country and we are not alone.

I guess Levin hasn’t noticed that Alinsky-tactics works for the democrats.

For everyone turned off by it, there are probably more that feel he is then only one capable of taking on the left.

Not that I idolize talk hosts, but Rush pretty much said that today.

I don’t really care about that - although watching him beat the media has been fun - I like his policies. Period. They are better than anyone else running and he’s taken heat for them, but never wavered.

Churchill didn’t have great ‘character’ either (a subjective term), but he was effective. Chamberlain was probably a nicer guy, but that’s not what I vote for (unlike most women).

Exactly right upsdriver. It really is that simple, that clear and yet, people just have to make it complicated!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has been saying this for years! At town halls 8 years ago, I was stating this exact same thing - it’s devolved into an us vs. them and that is the simple reality.

And the damn ‘establishment’ is none to happy to keep people tethered to that juvenile concept of it being this candidate vs. that one and then hillary vs. whoever.
These power hungry money grubbin freaks have this gig nailed down to a ‘T’.
