DID BOB DOLE JUST ENDORSE TRUMP?
American Spectator ^ | 1.20.16 | Aaron Goldstein

Former Senate Majority Leader and 1996 GOP standard bearer Bob Dole appears to have endorsed Donald Trump.

Nevertheless, Dole praised Trump stating he could “probably work with Congress, because he’s, you know, he’s got the right personality and he’s kind of a deal-maker.”

How many people do you think really follow politics that close to care in the general election.

Trump and Cruz (and anybody for that matter) may win as God sees fit and we all are feeling like we are on the right side. I hope both Trump and Cruz have the grace and poise and good sense to not try and destroy each other. They will need each other and be a formidable pair with Trump as POTUS and Cruz as his man in the Senate.

Trump is vulgar at times, insulting at times, and prone to hyperbole, I’m just glad he’s all those things at the right time.

Does "contemporary circumstances" of compromise mean increasing Federal spending around 50%, increasing the bureaucracy by adding around 250,000 CIVILIAN government jobs, "War on drugs" along with all the unintended Constitutional consequences that go with that, and dropping promises like ending certain Federal Departments (Most loudly, Dept. of Education)?

"FDR was a fag" ('Usual Suspects' reference) compared to the Federal expansion Tip O'Neill managed to achieve by controlling just one Chamber for 6 years. Btw, how many times did Tip have no problem government shutdowns as a means of stopping and getting what he/blue dog dems wanted? Heck, one day and the Republicans (Like Dole in the Senate) were on there knees negotiating with Tip with hat-in-hand begging for forgiveness. O'Neill was a one man wrecking crew and got all the stuff he/Statists dems wanted in the long-term.

I read every word. I believe your characterization of Reagan is in error. It wasn't about making deals with O'Neill. It was about defeating O'Neill's ideals (as well as George H.W. Bush) in the public arena. It would not have been possible without the malaise of the 70s as a backdrop.

Fast forward to now. We again are facing such a backdrop. And with this comes the opportunity to implement another Reagan revolution. But we can only have one if we have a President who is not willing to turn his back on Conservative ideals - someone like Ted Cruz. Keep in mind that it was George H.W. Bush who ended the Reagan Revolution. And he did so because of his willingness to strike deals with Democrats instead of standing on Conservative ideals. Bush Sr. had the support of the people when he said "Read my lips". He lost that support when he raised taxes.

Not as thin as Trump’s “conservative creds,” which are the big El Zilcho.

I don’t see Dole having any broads fighting over him in court like Redstone.

Thank God that Trump is not a Republican. He is a real American. That used to mean the same thing.
