Times that try men's souls vs living in interesting times

We are currently experiencing both and it is challenging.

I pray FR survives this election. Our forum has never been so divided. But even more so, I pray our divided nation survives. If traitor Hillary or communist Sanders is elected, it will be difficult to continue as a free nation without invoking certain clauses in the Declaration. Our constitution is certainly being put to the test.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness

God is in charge. The original colonies were established mostly in the name of Judeo-Christianity and primarily for religious freedom. And our current government was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

Republican, democrat, conservative, liberal, progressive are all political constructs and are useful, but are not the ultimate causes.

God, family, country, liberty are our causes.

We are all created in God's image. God gave us life and liberty. He taught us how to live, how to work, how to fend for ourselves and family, how to govern ourselves, how to defend ourselves our family our country, and how to worship and be faithful. Most of us on FR believe He had a mighty hand on the founding of our nation and that we should continue seeking Him as our guiding light.

Today we are caught up in what could very well be the climatic struggle for our nation's survival. We've been struggling in this nation against godless progressivism for at least 100 years. And, of course, against Satanic Islamic totalitarianism for 1400 years. Now we have the godless progressives, Marxist communists and Satanic Islamic fascist totalitarians all joining forces to try for the final destruction of our Judeo-Christian nation.

We are being invaded from within and without and we will fail as a nation if we do not recognize this and we fail to unite as a free people under God to fight for our survival.

At first I was very skeptical about Donald Trump entering the race. I'm a great believer in Ted Cruz and his godly conservatism. And I pray that if he's the candidate, that the nation bands together and grants him a landslide victory and a mandate to secure our nation and set it back on the righteous path.

But I have to admit that Trump surprised me and got my patriotic emotions stirring again. He is obviously not the evangelical constitutional conservative that Cruz is, but does appear to be a powerful leader with a love for America and freedom. And he's proving that he can pull in large crowds and great numbers in the polls.

As I said, I was skeptical at first, but after watching him campaign and learning some of the details about his Reagan-like tax plan and his determination to secure our borders and secure our nation I became a little more interested. And his non-PC approach to handling the media and the GOPe intrigued me.

His bold statements that we should build a wall, enforce the law, deport them ALL, end the sanctuary cities, end the anchor babies were shocking to most of the political class, but as his polling numbers attest, are exactly what the people want. Even more shocking were his bold statements of going after the families and the mosques of the terrorists and even slapping a moratorium on Muslim immigration. Shocking, but again, exactly what we need if we are to survive the war the Muslims are waging against us.

The political class to a man immediately rejected these bold statements as being unconstitutional and un-American, but as they see the people are for them, they are starting to come around.

Am I totally sold on Trump? Not yet. But if he continues as he is and doesn't blowup, he could very well be our nominee. And if so, I will support him to the hilt.

We have two great candidates in Cruz and Trump and I hope neither are knocked out too soon. We have RINO amnesty pimps Rubio, Kasich, Bush, et al, lurking just behind. And the GOPe is far from dead.

Go, Cruz, Go!

Go, Trump, Go!

Either way, we win, they lose.

And I pray one of these two gets it and that we can all join forces against the true enemy when he does.

God us all and bless America.

And FReepers, please quit attacking each other. We're all in this together.

What is so hard about realizing that trashing or belittling a Trump or Cruz supporter on this site has zero chance of converting that person?

Posters on this site are already very politically opinionated or they would not be here.

I will gladly vote for Cruz. I will easily vote for Trump if he is nominated. I will stay home if one of the others is nominated. There! reverse the candidates if needed and that covers 90% of this site so there is no purpose to bashing another poster. Appeal, argue reasonably, but this childish bashing is worthless.

Exactly. I donated to Cruz. I would have donated to Trump but he said he didn't need my money. People need to calm down and concentrate on a victory in November.

We always thing times are worst because we're living in them. But the bitter, angry struggle between Thomas Jefferson and his followers and those of Washington and Hamilton and Adams were every bit as bad. Remember, John Adams had Congress pass a law making it a crime to CRITICIZE him, so we have a ways to go.

Yeah, we call names, but it's nothing like the pre-Civil War period. Most people know about the caning of Charles Sumner on the senate floor. But how many know that Sen. Thomas Hart Benton of MO approached his opponent Sen. Henry Foote of MI on the senate floor and pulled his jacket back to reveal his pistols and pulled one out. Foote dared him to shoot, and other senators dragged them both away. Or in the Arkansas House of Representatives, when over a debate over using wolf pelts for money, one representative took out his Bowie knife and gutted a fellow representative! We're still a ways from that.

This needed saying Jim. This has gotten too hot. When they went after each other ,we got after it on both sides. The stakes are very high. I have pledged that if my man loses, I will vote for the other. I hope others will do that. Not sure I could do that for rubio or bush— Maybe. It would take a strong Trump endorsement .

Trump changed his mind years ago; years before he thought about running for president.

Trump is far more CONSERVATIVE than McCain and Romney ever were.

You and others need to actually look and listen, CLOSELY, to both leading candidates whom FR is being divided by.

I hate to dwell on what this forum would have been like before big GUbamint gobbled up all the power.. I caught the ‘bug’ during the Clinton Scandals days (now in Extended Play) .. Dang near 15 years here logged in..

FR Divided like never before? Nyaaaa..

Invaded like never before is more like it.

The battles of words and thoughts rage here daily..

Like the Green Dragon Tavern of old..

It serves as a place to talk to death the topics of the day..

And do it with gusto!!

Personally, 7 by 24 politicking can take its toll..

I appreciate that. I think we just have to ignore those forum posters that are not discussing the facts. There are those posters that look for the fringe articles that give a second hand slant to real events.

I don’t really want to just converse with others that think exactly like I do.

You notice that, even on this thread asking for civility and by the owner himself, it is Cruz supporters that can’t control themselves and HAVE to say something snarky about Trump.

If I can’t support Cruz in the end, it’s because of how supporters reflect on their candidate.

I’ve taken mini-FR holidays to get away from being insulted just for having a different opinion. I’ve talked to others that are checking in less and less as well.

How about having safe zones - where supporters of a candidate can go without because attacked relentlessly? This goes for everyone. Because the attacks aren’t even intelligent or informative - most are repeated ad nauseum on every thread.
