What is so hard about realizing that trashing or belittling a Trump or Cruz supporter on this site has zero chance of converting that person?

Posters on this site are already very politically opinionated or they would not be here.

I will gladly vote for Cruz. I will easily vote for Trump if he is nominated. I will stay home if one of the others is nominated. There! reverse the candidates if needed and that covers 90% of this site so there is no purpose to bashing another poster. Appeal, argue reasonably, but this childish bashing is worthless.

Go, Cruz, Go!

Go, Trump, Go!

Exactly. I donated to Cruz. I would have donated to Trump but he said he didn't need my money. People need to calm down and concentrate on a victory in November.

For years there have been members of this forum who delight in belittling other members and get some great, weird satisfaction in their passive-aggressive attacks. I would know. My best to you, Jim Robinson, in your efforts to save this forum.

We always thing times are worst because we're living in them. But the bitter, angry struggle between Thomas Jefferson and his followers and those of Washington and Hamilton and Adams were every bit as bad. Remember, John Adams had Congress pass a law making it a crime to CRITICIZE him, so we have a ways to go.

Yeah, we call names, but it's nothing like the pre-Civil War period. Most people know about the caning of Charles Sumner on the senate floor. But how many know that Sen. Thomas Hart Benton of MO approached his opponent Sen. Henry Foote of MI on the senate floor and pulled his jacket back to reveal his pistols and pulled one out. Foote dared him to shoot, and other senators dragged them both away. Or in the Arkansas House of Representatives, when over a debate over using wolf pelts for money, one representative took out his Bowie knife and gutted a fellow representative! We're still a ways from that.

This needed saying Jim. This has gotten too hot. When they went after each other ,we got after it on both sides. The stakes are very high. I have pledged that if my man loses, I will vote for the other. I hope others will do that. Not sure I could do that for rubio or bush— Maybe. It would take a strong Trump endorsement .

The problem is when things are posted about a candidate which are intended as relevant information, the poster is crucified.

Lord help you if you point out something that sounds a lot like Obama. On either side.

Trump changed his mind years ago; years before he thought about running for president.

Trump is far more CONSERVATIVE than McCain and Romney ever were.

You and others need to actually look and listen, CLOSELY, to both leading candidates whom FR is being divided by.

I hate to dwell on what this forum would have been like before big GUbamint gobbled up all the power.. I caught the ‘bug’ during the Clinton Scandals days (now in Extended Play) .. Dang near 15 years here logged in..

FR Divided like never before? Nyaaaa..

Invaded like never before is more like it.

The battles of words and thoughts rage here daily..

Like the Green Dragon Tavern of old..

It serves as a place to talk to death the topics of the day..

And do it with gusto!!

Personally, 7 by 24 politicking can take its toll..

But the spirit to do so flames on regardless.

Ike Baby Boomer here.. proud of it!!

I appreciate that. I think we just have to ignore those forum posters that are not discussing the facts. There are those posters that look for the fringe articles that give a second hand slant to real events.

I don’t really want to just converse with others that think exactly like I do.

Keep the faith Jim. There is more than a remnant of saints in this nation. When two or more agree, it is established. Let us stop talking trash about the country. Proclaim from the mountain tops: God Bless America!!!!

You notice that, even on this thread asking for civility and by the owner himself, it is Cruz supporters that can’t control themselves and HAVE to say something snarky about Trump.

If I can’t support Cruz in the end, it’s because of how supporters reflect on their candidate.

I’ve taken mini-FR holidays to get away from being insulted just for having a different opinion. I’ve talked to others that are checking in less and less as well.

How about having safe zones - where supporters of a candidate can go without because attacked relentlessly? This goes for everyone. Because the attacks aren’t even intelligent or informative - most are repeated ad nauseum on every thread.
