Full disclosure, I posted this to a different thread but I think it pertains here, too.
He should be second guessing his attack that was a bridge too far in the debate. Stick to the issues, don’t get into a pi—ing match on “NY values†on the stage on live TV in front of a national audience that do not really know you that well, but they all know Donald Trump. It would’ve worked in Iowa on a stump speech, but not there. Trump is 25 years his senior and has battled with “killers†(Trump’s words) in high finance and cut throat business his entire life. Cruz has battled with Mitch McConnell. Totally different league and it showed. Cruz had the momentum and was smacked like a gnat because he went for a kill shot that backfired. There’s time for him to recover, but he and his team need to regroup quickly. If he prevails in Iowa and can get traction, he may have a shot at prolonging it and making it more contested. If he loses, it’s probably game over.

Ted Cruz suffered a one-two gut punch Tuesday in Iowa, a state considered friendly territory for the Texas senator.
First came the anti-endorsement from the state’s popular and longest-serving governor, Republican Terry Branstad, who said, “It would be a big mistake” for Iowans to support Cruz. Branstad has pledged not to endorse a candidate before the Feb. 1 caucuses and tends to stay above the fray in his state, but he and his family have taken particular issue with Cruz for his call to end federal ethanol subsidies that are integral to the state’s corn industry.
Then came the mother lode: an in-person endorsement of Cruz’s archrival Donald Trump from Ms. Rogue herself......
