Is that sort of like the New Balance claims? They build 10 percent of their runners in the US so they can say they are US made.

Nope. To use the "US Made" label, you need to have a majority of it actually made in the U.S.A. According to the FTC:

Made in USA means that "all or virtually all" the product has been made in America. That is, all significant parts, processing, and labor that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. Products should not contain any - or should contain only negligible - foreign content.

Anti-Apple bigots spread the lie about Apple making everything in China, when the reality is that it is one of the few American tech companies making computer products in America. Almost all other American computer companies manufacture their products in China. Apple does so with some mobile devices, but even then a lot of the content is manufactured in America (chips, glass, etc.) One would do well to go after HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and others who do little manufacturing here.

Thanks for the info. Why did Jobs spend so much energy defending assemblies in China instead saying most is made in the US?
