Evangelical leader blasts Falwell for hosting Trump
Politico | January 18, 2016 | Blake Hounshell

One of the United States' most influential evangelical leaders blasted Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. on Monday for hosting Donald Trump to give a campaign speech.

Russell Moore, who heads the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, the public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, let fly a series of tweets after Falwell gave a glowing introduction to Trump, calling him "one of the greatest visionaries of our time" and saying Trump "lives a life of helping others ... as Jesus taught in the New Testament."

Moore appeared incredulous at Falwell's language, which was more effusive than he had been with any other candidate, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz:

You describe Russel Moore as “One of the United States’ most influential evangelical leaders”. Russell Moore who wants to increase immigration of Hispanics and give them all amnesty?

Yet you think he is one of the most influential evangelical leaders in the US!? Now doesn’t that tell us all we need to know about you and whoever you support. Let me guess Bernie Sanders, he agrees with you and Moore.

Sorry I don’t take advise from Democrats.

we refer to it as “ First and Second Corinthians, First and Second Timothy,...etc”
Him saying “ TWO Corinthians” told a LOT of Christians how much he has been exposed to his “ church roots” growing up.

***

I grew up Lutheran and the two terms were interchangeable.

So stop whining and moaning.

Thanks. I missed the first few words.

I was watching on CNN and they showed the introduction but had the sound blocked. I had to switch to YouTube to hear it.

All the time, but I don’t tie any merit to it. Luke 17:10: “We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.”

Who said it was mandatory? Were all the attendees students at Liberty?

I'm taking my frustrations out by sending an email to my Secretary of State this morning contesting Cruz on the Nevada ballot and this afternoon, composing a letter to the editor of our newspaper. :)

That is something we all could do. Imagine it happening all across the country. And to think I get the idea from someone replying in a CW thread.

Trump doesn’t either. Some of the things he did for people years and years ago are just now coming to light. People thought they could dig up a little dirt on him but only found the great things he has done. So, Go Trump. I try to do the same. I do not let people know what little I do. It is not their business.

Do you believe only the very wealthy should be qualified to run for public office?

I watched British Parliament today and a lot of them are really mad at Donald so I see your point. Of course, many Americans like me love him, so we will just have to vote.

Russell Moore is a weasel. He is part of a group that took control of the SBC using a program called “The Great Commission Resurgence”. After getting rid of the “out-of-touch” leadership, the new guys headed in the direction of being “socially moderate” while claiming to believe in inerrancy. They argued that this is needed to get the membership numbers up, but I think a main reason was that they wanted “places of honor.” Don Wildmon has taken Moore personally to task for his views on homosexuality. I also understand that Moore was once a staffer for a Dem congressman.

Moore has a malign influence within the SBC. Frankly, no one should give to support the Convention until there are major changes.
