Graph Shows A Surprising Number Of Republicans Have Changed Their Tune On Trump

The standard political rules don't apply to Donald Trump.

We have seen him get through controversy after controversy that would have instantly ended the campaign of a traditional candidate and not only has he remained virtually unscathed but his poll numbers have actually increased.

Trump has struck a nerve in this country and capitalized on what is perhaps the most perfect window for him to run in thanks to the fact that people are more divided than ever and extremely frustrated with the establishment and status quo in both parties.

A recent poll from NBC and the Wall Street Journal puts into perspective just how convincing Trump's message has been.

From The Washington Post:

Donald Trump, as I tell anyone who asks, defies virtually every political rule I thought I knew. There's no better encapsulation of Trump's up-is-down-and-down-is-up effect on presidential politics than a new number from the just-released NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. The question asked is a simple one: Could you see yourself supporting [fill in the blank candidate] for the Republican nomination for president? When NBC/WSJ first asked GOP voters that question about Trump last March, fewer than one in four (23 percent) said they could see themselves voting for him.

Wow.

That's pretty remarkable when you consider everything that has happened over the last year.

The media has been bashing Trump left and right for everything he says. Celebrities have been freaking out calling him racist and threatening to leave the country if he wins. But yet, here he is with a significant amount of support that only continues to grow.

How’s that strategy working out for you?

So Trump did more to get rid of Obama in 2012 than you did.

Ahhh...another brilliantly enlightened and eloquent trumpeter.

Tell me wise sage, what has trump ever done in his entire miserable life that shows he holds a single sincerely held conservative belief. Or just continue to launch another personal attack.

That is your right as an American citizen. Nobody should feel guilty for not voting for somebody they see as representing values that are not reflective of their own.

It will be interesting to see what happens after Limbaugh responds to trump’s knifing of Cruz in the back tomorrow. 20,000,000 conservatives will get the low down on Donald Alinsky for sure.

I certainly am smart enough to vote for Cruz or Trump. Not take my ball and go home. Your name fits. Little one. Little mind. Little ME. Look at me!

Just what the hell are you talking about, humblegunner?

You sound like a liberal troll, but I cannot believe you are one!

I have publicly stated that I would support Trump if he got the nomination on freerepublic multiple times. I voted for Romney and McCain even though they weren’t who I wanted.

I cannot do it again, especially not for Trump.

Or maybe just somebody who actually lives by conservative principles...which apparently is no longer en vogue amongst a portion of FR “conservatives”

Working great. I can look myself in the mirror without throwing up a little in my mouth. What do you see when you look in the mirror? Romney, Trump and the 50,000 Trump sent to McConnell?

“trump’s knifing of Cruz in the back”

Huh? Cruz made his move on Trump. If you’re going to shoot Billy the Kid you best not miss.

Trump will do nothing to stop the daily slaughter of thousands of little babies. He will do nothing to restore and protect the institution of marriage and the natural family. He will do nothing to rein in the judicial oligarchy that is now running this country. He will do nothing to even slow down the unconstitutional socialist entitlement state. He will do nothing to rid us of this invasive, stupid, liberty and prosperity-killing income tax system.

If you really listen to him you know that he has already told us all of the above.

Lots of folks think the election of Trump would somehow be earth-shaking. But he’s already told us he won’t really do anything about the first and most important things that ail the country.

This will shock some, and offend others, but the truth is that Trump really only represents the liberal status quo.

Hillary Clinton was polling very high just a month ago ....not any more.. Those who count on polls of any sort are often let down

‘Not only does he have liberal history, he attacks like a liberal as well.’

Speaking of the last debate, I have a question. No one else has been able to answer it. Maybe you can.

Namely, why did Cruz bring Trump’s mother into the NBC discussion?

I’m learning from this thread that they are just wacky, fringe types. They can post a lot and make a bunch of noise here, but they are small in numbers with wacky beliefs.

Uh no. I sent 2000.00 to a conservative. Trump has sent large sums of money to Democrats and Mitch McConnell. Which is his prerogative.

Because several of the birthers have been saying that to be a natural born citizen, the child had to be born on US soil, and both parents had to be natural born on US soil as well. Trump’s mother was born in Scotland and naturalized in the US.
