Those aren’t friends. They’re people who have their hopes pinned on him as the one who will bring in The Kingdom. When he fails, he will be tossed aside, reviled & forgotten just like Mike Huckabee & Rick Santorum. Ask them about the ‘’friends’’ they once had.
“He is not ‘all over the board.’”
Well, I guess he’s been consistent for a few months. But someone who said Hillary would be a fine President in 2008, and praised Obama in 2009, isn’t MY idea of a consistent conservative. A guy who wanted Oprah for his running mate in 2000, and used to admit he didn’t share Iowa values, isn’t my idea of someone I can trust. Someone who has talked about his abortion loving relative as a potential candidate for the Supreme Court doesn’t inspire trust in me.
Says the cultist of a thrice married man “married” to someone three decades younger than himself, who once commented that if he were not married, he’d date his daughter.
You Bible-thumpers really SHOULD cultivate that sense of humor thing.
Sheesh.
When it comes to mud, I agree. However, Trump's background is a fertile field of contradictory statements and childish antics. Video montages of Trump's words and deeds prior to a few months ago contrasted against Trump's positions as a candidate will be very effective.
Ridicule based on facts is generally more effective than the grade school taunts that Trump prefers. In a battle of wits, my money is on Ted.
He didn’t HIRE craig livingstone, he IS craig livingstone, gutter and all.
Ronald Reagan got a divorce, too.
Ridicule based on facts is generally more effective than the grade school taunts that Trump prefers.

Facts:
Ted is not liked because he is nasty.
Ted got some shady loans.
Ted wasn’t born here.
Hmmm...
Eff trump. I used to at least admire trump as a businessman. But now, I think it’s sewage.
I’ve supported Trump for at least a few months now, and I still do, but I wish all this infighting would stop. I don’t think it does Trump any good to keep on fighting with Cruz. The fighting probably hurts them both, and we can’t afford to allow people to start looking at the tired old Bush or amnesty Rubio as viable alternatives.
Indeed.
The problem around FR is there are too many people thinking with their ideology , as opposed to their strategy. They are thinking with their hearts but not their heads.
Too many of our fellow FReepers believe that this is the same nation of, say, 50 years ago. They believe the echo chamber of conservatives here is somehow representative of the population at large. They have not acknowledged that the world is a bit different now.
I am not as foolish as they are. Trump is not a doctrinaire conservative. But he is CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH on those things that matter to me, such as immigration, trade, etc. And despite how the pundits hope to hide it, these are things that even Democrats agree with us about.
That, is how you win a general election, folks.

That Trump is a hoot.
Agreed entirely.

I be no Troll, neither do I coordinate ANY posts with anyone, ever ... since 1998 ...
Period.
And if I had a quarter for every pro-Donald Trump post, remark, photo I’ve posted on Facebook and Free Republic,
I could put you up in the New York Carlton Ritz for three nights ...
Deal with it ...
.
Yup. It's gotten weird here.
Cut them some slack. PTSD from the Carson take down.
I didn’t realize you were in the “fake but accurate” club.
That tells me a few things.
If Cruz challenges Trump to a series of real debates, Trump would be a fool to accept. His problem would be to figure out how to chicken out without losing face with the mob that supports him.
As for Trump's strategy of childish personal attacks and dishonest smears working, what worked on the rest of the field may not work against the most intelligent and articulate person in the race. Ted is not Jeb.
But some of the nastiness here is surprising to me.
As I always say: I like both guys. I do prefer Trump, so I am biased. But I have seen the Establishment and the media try to destroy Trump for 7 months. Now I see a lot of new names on Free Republic -- "outraged Conservatives" who hate Trump with a terrible hatred.
It's disturbing. I think they hate him more than they hate Obama.
Hey, I didn’t say I believed it. My first reaction is that it’s cooked up falsehood. Sometime that crap is believable, like good satire that people fall for, every day.
