POSSIBLY, ego. That he could somehow, like they say in British courts is not allowed, “Suck and blow in the same breath.” No, don’t compare him to Trump here, you asked a question in HIS case. But he did turn down a lower position in the Bush administration and then treated that like he had simply been snubbed.
He could ease up on the Constitution but that’s probably going to lose him some arch conservative support. But he needs to make some move or it will be forced on him. More likely (IMHO) he will not reconsider on that, and the shadow will keep him behind Trump who doesn’t have an issue like this.
