Yeah... the good Lord could, if He sees fit and if Cruz insists, still bring Cruz past this shadow. The question would be, at what cost in tribulations however, and the modern body politic is notoriously fickle and impatient. Trump at least keeps the circuses going, sad that we need the circuses, but it is an accommodation to our weakened state. Cruz will be saying just wait, just wait, just wait, and it would seem quixotic.

Also Obama and friends would see a GOP that is busy thrashing out an answer and be more emboldened to take advantage of its distraction.

For Cruz to concede to Trump that Trump is more plausibly heir apparent of the GOP nomination would make sense. Now Cruz can dig in for Trump and the distracting battle becomes synergy.

It’d be a right quick resurrection into a Trump booster. Sometimes we can actually notice that the Lord is that way, setting up circumstances and walking people through their reactions to them.

Sometimes things don’t work out in tidy 2-dimensional friend/enmities.

Trump <3 America... I am pretty sure of that now.

Also, in spite of the disobedience in the land, God <3 America. God hasn’t forgotten this stage for a gospel witness, chastened as it has been. If Obama is the deepest dip it sees, it really has been blessed.

God wants a unified front. Trump’s clumsy at things faith with only a general nod to Christendom, but maybe this is for the good. Things faith have to be We The People’s bailiwick. A drama could be coming up where Trump is not the carrier of faith but the one carried by faith.

Yeah, let her do so if she wishes... minor distraction in the scheme of things. Trump can even angle this one as saying that hey, he’s been kind to Democrats as well as to Republicans... but look, since then they’ve done all manner of unkind things to America and it’s time to choose!

Whether or not he’s eligible is not the point. It’s whether or not this will be tied up in court. And it WILL be.

I don’t expect Cruz to do that. And I would rather someone win on the issues, personal resume, and campaign leadership style.

We should be able to calm the squabbling by calling for an eligibility amendment on his behalf even if he insists its not needed.

We can pretty much count on Democrats today to be treacherous. They aren’t in a collegial mood, even though they have the president and a goodly presence in the Senate. Sometimes little bipartisan things get through, but as soon as the public eye is on it, the Dems have to be asses in the limelight. This is NOT going to happen in the shadows any more than you could hide the sun. (Bad analogy?)

I think you miss the political mood. Democrats WANT it to be squabbling.

Ironically, the peace loving side of Cruz may be quicker to pick this up than many supporters like you. He’d be thinking, they want a squabble, let Trump answer it.

And right now, winning at ALL would matter over trying to fight swine with a shotgun full of pearls.

Trump is the fix-America fellow. Trump is not the keep-America-sailing fellow.

You have already said that you hate Cruz supporters, not Cruz himself. And then I said OK. I also tried to explain how I skip over the cat fights therefore I am unfamiliar with who is on what side of the Trump-Cruz war that is tearing this place apart and giving the GOP establishment an amusement factor of 10+. Just because you and I have been here and known each other for a long time does not mean that I am familiar with your relationships with Cruz supporters and the history of what takes place. Remember, I skip over this crap.

I am neutral, or at least I’m trying to be; you are not. It’s that plain and simple. I politely thanked you, then politely said that I wanted a Cruz person to answer my question and asked you to please try not to say anything that could be used to start a fight. You stated your opinions and I understood it. Great.

But if you inject that opinion again in the middle of some Cruz person who is trying to answer my question, then that puts me right in the middle of a Trump-Cruz cat fight, a place I do not want to be. I’m sorry that my request seems to have irritated you, but I don’t have any other way to say it more nicely.

Now perhaps you see why I go out of my way to skip over the wars. In fact, now I forgot my original question for the cruz people.

“Whether or not he’s eligible is not the point. It’s whether or not this will be tied up in court. And it WILL be.”

Worth repeating.

That is THE point and the only point.
Nothing else matters at this point.
It’s too bad that most people cannot see our point. :-)

I wonder what contractor the RNC is using for the online agitators? And I wonder if it’s the same one the DNC is using? They probably made a deal with each other: the RNC directs the online group think and cyber-discussions BEFORE the RNC convention, then the DNC picks it up after Trump (or Cruz) wins the nomination.

What a cushy job. Get paid to manipulate people while sipping coffee in your pajamas.

Could you two kitties please try to get along.

The devil wants it to be personal about us.

God wants it to be about other things that He wants us to take a part in loving.

Do it right, and it will look like win/win. Do it wrong and we will tear the fur out of each others’ hides.

There’s been a lot of personal investment in people. People have a way of breaking our hearts and getting us to feel resentful. I tend more to watching the spiritual weather signs and backing what looks more like it is lined up with God’s love. And trying to make a case for this to doubters, without raising rancor. God calls it grace. Brethren and sisters needn’t fight; God will love all and use all to bestow love.

And that’s a selfish vision on both their parts (I get GOPe email and they seem to be so petty.)

The answer, as always, is look above. God already knew the selfishness would be there, and planned around it anyhow.

Trump seems the man of the hour, the one who will sail past the sturm und drang, even using it like a skilled sailor can tack into a headwind. He never asked for this to happen. But he is a great observer and opportunist.

My last point about paid trolls had nothing to do with my previous response to you, just so you know. Well, Unless maybe in the context of you and other sincere Trump AND Cruz supporters being a target of them, knowing that they seek out the online people who are very passionate about their politics (which includes most FReepers).

Facebook is crawling with agitators, but that’s an easy audience. Online conservative forums, not so much.

I wonder how much they get paid...

We’re cool. I could never get into a heated cyber fight with a fellow longtime FReeper anymore. We’ve been through too much together. It’s a trauma-bond!

Any of you older FReepers reading this who have never taken a few months or years off from this place... You may not be able to see what a special bond you have with each other. It’s the old Forest-Trees thing. Please, don’t let this Trump/Cruz war separate you. We need to be preparing for the dirty tricks of the RNC/DNC, which IS coming. If it’s as bad as I think it may be (their efforts to deny an outsider winning), then we may be marching in the streets together.

Let me tell you who Larry Tribe is. He’s a left-wing judicial activist, Harvard Law professor who was Al Gore’s lawyer in Bush versus Gore. He’s a major Hillary Clinton supporter. And there’s a reason why Hillary’s supporters are echoing Donald’s attacks on me, because Hillary wants to face Donald Trump in the general election.

‘I think you miss the political mood. Democrats WANT it to be squabbling.’

Always and forever.

I’ve been careful about Cruz lately because we need to mend bridges with Cruz supporters. You might have detected me not being as hard-hitting as normal. That’s why. One Cruz supporter, Cripplecreek, apparently doesn’t want me contacting him anymore. Another called me a liar.

So ... trying to walk a tightrope. I don’t mind being hated, but FRiends are a valuable human resource.

‘Trump is the fix-America fellow. Trump is not the keep-America-sailing fellow.’

I like executive experience in the White House and believe Trump is probably more qualified than any governor in the US.

I think you are right. Cruz could be awsome in helping steer us through constitutional amendments, the real constitutional battle. Then it won’t matter so much when a rogue justice is nominated.
