Charles Krauthammer told viewers Friday on "Special Report with Bret Baier" that Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz "was speechless, gobsmacked... dumbstruck" at the end of Thursday's Fox Business Network GOP primary debate.
The Texas senator criticized fellow Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for embodying what he called "New York values."
Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist and Fox News contributor, said that while Cruz was "dazzling" on the birther issue, he got "thoroughly crushed on the New York thing."
Krauthammer seemed surprised by the way Cruz handled Trump's attacks, calling the exchange "uncharacteristic of Cruz because he is always prepared."
"Trump had played the 9/11 card the day before," Krauthammer said, "[Cruz] should have known it was coming."
"And if you saw the split screen at the end of hat exchange, Cruz was speechless," Krauthammer said.

Exactly!
Heâs palying (Playing) you folks and if he does succeed in getting elected, your gonna learn that.....the hard way.
I’m with the Canadian!!
“I’m with the Canadian”
I’m with the liberal.
There fixed it for ya.
Cruz, being the Jedi debate master that he is, should have known that and qualified it as such. That was either intentional or a forced error....I think the latter as Cruz would have nothing to gain by that.
Iâm with the liberal.
Your with Bernie? Hillary? Bush? What liberal Trump?
“Teddy was respectful. Something trumpeeee has no clue about.”
You seem to need to work on that “respect” thing a little yourself. Particularly when it comes to the guy who’s our leading candidate.

Trump is and always has been a liberal regardless what letter he wishes to attach to the end of his name.
LOL!
Wayne Gretzky?
He’d be ten times better than the Mouth.
Kraut has New York values.
How else do you explain his defending the very man he has been attacking relentlessly for months on end.
Also, see my tagline.

The Mouth of Manhattan is no more “my” candidate then Krauthiemmer or George Will are Conservative.
The Mouth needs to run as a Democrat.
He’s admitted that’s his values.
Again, we hear from DU!
Not me. Krauthammer’s name has been mud with me ever since the day Palin mentioned death panels, and the offended-by-her-lack-of-decorum Kraut said “she should leave the room”... and then repeated every point she made in her Facebook message as his own! I won’t even go into his snippy, condescending attitude towards the 2010 town-hall protests, which he found appalling, and said they’d lead to GOP defeat in the mid-terms.
So for many of us (even though we know there are people in the State, and even the City who are not represented by that rampant Liberalism, "New York Values" represent the mindset on display by the politicians from New York (including Coumo, Schumer, Clinton, Wiener, and McCarthy, to name a few).
We don't think of Rudy, and if we do, we don't find his solutions appropriate for out here in the 'sticks', either.
Now, with all that in mind, and it is something a POTUS candidate should be aware of, I find it odd that Trump takes such great offense (as do Trump supporters) when someone points out that image. That is the image the elected officials of both New York City and the State of New York project, and they work hard at it.
FWIW, California has the same problem, as do other states (CO, OR, WA, come to mind immediately).
“Good grief, GET OVER the words âNY valuesâ etc. This is the most important campaign and we haggle over this BS?”
Thank you! A point I made on another thread just moments ago, all about some dufus “loan”. My God!
Most people knew what Cruz meant. But the NY media hate Cruz even more than Trump. The problem was that Cruz let Trump get away with it during the debate. Cruz’s response the next day was too late.
F Krauthammer...except I do like his name. If I had a band I would call it “Kraut Hammer”
