Yes. How would his U.S. Senate campaign have gotten off the ground if the Canadian citizenship issue were common knowledge?

While we’re on the subject: Let’s review how BO went from State Senator (eligibility issues reviewed?) to U.S. Senator (eligibility issues reviewed?) to POTUS? At least one gate out of those three should have shut him out. BO openly declared his father was a British subject at the time of his birth (British East Africa a.k.a. Kenya), thus making BO a dual citizen (if we are to believe the HI birth story). So would a dual citizen of the UK and the U.S. even be eligible for State Senator?

A lawsuit was filed... Oh noes... You do know anyone could file the same suit on any candidate... And the results will be the same for all of them... Thrown out.
