Once again, a Democratic debate is being held on the weekend, and this one could have a slimmer audience than usual -- coming on the same day as two NFL playoff games, not to mention "Downton Abbey."
The Sunday night debate in South Carolina, hosted by NBC News, is the latest in a series of weekend Democratic bouts. The timing has fueled allegations from Hillary Clinton's rivals that party leaders are working behind the scenes to minimize her exposure.
This Sunday's debate is in a particularly rough slot -- forcing NFL fans and period drama lovers to choose between politics and pastimes.
On the same day Clinton, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders discuss health care reform and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, there are two NFL playoff games, with the second -- Pittsburgh Steelers versus the Denver Broncos – likely to finish only just before the debate begins.

I tape the programs I watch..on the regular channels I tape so I won’r have to watch a thousand commurcials during one hour show..On PBS I tape just a few shows and DOWNTON is one of them..
I never watch anything to do with the democrats so it would not matter to me..
Okay, DNC can do whatever they want. They want to hide their crappy candidates, fine. But what will they do when one of them faces Donald Trump in a debate during primetime tv?
Men will watch the football,women will watch the homosexual themed drama, and those without TVs may watch the debate.
We can always roll tape (ok I am old) and see what the Supreme Prevaricators pontificate about to further the demise of America...
With the NFL season winding down, perhaps the idle Las Vegas bookies will lay odds on Hillary taking another extended bathroom break to change her adult diaper. It is obvious that she is hiding something other than her fat ass under those long jackets. Hillary is a fashion model for Kim Jong Un’s tailor.
When does the final Democrat debate before the Iowa primary start? At the same time as Superbowl kickoff?
Those who have Amazon Prime can watch Downtown Abby at their leisure.
But why watch that when you can watch ‘Mozart in the Jungle’ instead
Why? Nobody watches the Dem debates.
I would think non-football fans would be mostly Democrats.
It is said that the “Low information Crowd” is mainly made up of Democrats, Socialists, Communists, and other useful idiots. Having the DNC debate on at a time that assures low viewing only demonstrates the DNC’s desire to keep it that way: Low Information voters (if they vote).
I don’t see a huge cross-over audience between the NFL and Downton Abbey, so what’s the catch?
Nobody’s going to watch the DNC debate - just as they planned it.
Let’s see:
1. A serial LIAR—enabler for a serial rapist— a corrupt person who lost her license to practice law-—has a daughter who looks zan awful lot like a man other than her husband.........
2. A candidate who is an open Socialist/Marxist/Communist (I cannot tell the differences) and who doesn’t know how this economy works.
3. NFL playoff game-—where we only have to worry about bad referee calls.
4. A wonderful drama series.
NO PROBLEM choosing in this house.
ONLY MIGHT be a problem if it was time for the Daytona 500.
I don’t think it will be a problem for most people.
The DNC, finding new and better ways to hide Hillary from the electorate. How will they hide her after the primaries are over and we are in general election mode? Will they simply refuse to debate?
