Trump singing a different tune just a short while back. FLIP FLOP campaign conservative.
When I was a little boy growing up in Long Island, I was very proud to be from New York. But my mother (a native Brooklynite) said, oh honey, you’re not from New York, you’re from New York STATE. That’s not New York.
Confused, I asked her how was that different?
She said, when people say New York, they mean New York City, not New York state. In fact, some people mean just Manhattan.
I think Sen. Cruz is referring to those values embodied by a city that voted roughly 75% for that communist pig de blasio.
And let’s face it, trump is from the city, not upstate or somewhere.
He very much represents “New York values.”
It was the year my daughter was born, and I had been against abortion since forever, because I have *conservative values.* I'd fought the fight, attended the rallies where REAGAN spoke to us pro-lifers, and I support local crisis pregnancy centers.
Fine - I get that you'll make any excuse for a 60-year-old-man thinking partial-birth abortion is fine.
He should be running as a Democrat, period.
Returning it to the state IS the best way to fight gay marriage. And it is the correct CONSTITUTIONAL remedy. It is much easier to overturn a SCOTUS ruling - Congress can do that by passing a statute saying that the subject of marriage is restricted to the states, and by prohibiting SCOTUS from having jurisdiction over that statute. The only other option is to try to get a Constitutional amendment. Just because he is not fighting the way you want him to doesn't mean he is not fighting - he is just fighting in a way that actually has a chance of succeeding.
Works in Chrome for me
What is your DU screen name?
Every state has its own rules about eminent domain some more stricter than others. There's a push for an Article V convention where they may think about taking up the issue.
Whatever that is supposed to mean. Rudy bots set off the most epic purge of all time here. Ahhh - the good old days.
Trump running for President made it my business.
Doesn’t any politician? Including Cruz?
Fair points and I will examine them.
Empty words.
Only Trump can convince voters across the US that he has changed from proven liberal to believable conservative. I stand by what I wrote in #31:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The only way Trump can divorce himself from his admitted and claimed "NYC values", is to go on national TV again, and state that he now refutes every statement made in the [1999] video."~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Just because he is not fighting the way you want him to doesn’t mean he is not fighting - he is just fighting in a way that actually has a chance of succeeding.”
How is he fighting gay marriage when he leaves it up to the states and the Supreme Court ruling is now accepted as the law of the land? When he leaves it up to the states, he is not doing anything at all.
The supreme court overrode the states right to decide themselves. They did so outside the bounds of the constitution.
Cruze on the ruling: “very definition of tyranny.”
Maybe you ought to look up what Cruz said instead...
What he said is absolutely 100% true. There is a difference. Even a blind fool knows it.
Gee RasterMaster, looks like Cruz has feet of clay.
He says “homosexual marriage” is now the “law of the land,” and anyone in government who disagrees, down to the level of county clerks, must obey, or seek employment elsewhere.
Trump sure does appear to convince enough voters that he is the one to get the nomination for president. We'll find out soon enough if so in the next few months.
But Trump drove the decision to do it. They did it because he wanted them to do it.
And, people pay attention to it now, because, as others have noted, Trump has not held office before. He has no track record as an officeholder; his track record is his business career. So, if you want to figure out what he believes about the proper role of government, etc., looking at things like his own use of eminent domain is a pretty good place to start.
