The first Republican debate of 2016 on the Fox Business Network averaged 11 million viewers -- the smallest total for any GOP debate this season, according to Nielsen ratings data.
The GOP debate this time last month, televised by CNN, averaged 18 million viewers in prime time. Still, Thursday's Fox Business debate ratings are impressive when put into proper historical context. The GOP debate slate -- with Donald Trump front and center -- continues to blow past ratings records from past primary seasons.

The totals are down from Fox Business Network's first GOP debate, held back in November, which averaged 13.5 million for the prime time debate

I didn’t watch this one! Had work to do. But from the clips today, it was just another food fight for the mostpart.
The GOP should have had no more than three debates if that’s all the Democrats had. You’d really have to be desperate for entertainment to find the last two worth watching.
It’s wrong-headed to assume that folks tuned in only to see Trump.
How quickly we forget. The 2012 cycle saw 20 GOP debates, 15 by this date four years ago.
PS: I didn't vote in the Drudge who won the debate either. But I was tempted to.
What else could be expected by CNN except sour grapes. This was the first debate I viewed because it was the most important one. Many Americans had the same idea. The pack is shrinking now the campaign becomes interesting.
Let Trump get back on with Megan. People’s minds are Made up anyway
That is a lot of folks watching considering the fact that many, many stations don’t carry Fox Business, even some cable companies don’t. They are known as a right leaning network whereas the industry as a whole is well left of center and don’t want to give voice to the right. I haven’t seen any data in that regard, just going on my experience traveling.
Well, my prediction was right on the money between 10 to 12 million viewers would be watching.
Lots of us have made up our minds...
They let debate flow without undue interruptions.
Tough luck for Cruz, as his “win” came before a smaller audience.
The debates draw almost as big an audience as Trumps town hall type appearances.
It's past time to trim the deadwood - senor el Jebbo and Kasich at least should be in the kiddie debate to give more time for the serious candidates to explain their positions.
Well... its their own fault that they scheduled the debate at the same time as the premier of ‘13 Hours’..
Decisions. decisions.. see 13 hours, or see the debate.
I guess the movie won.
Besides, by now all the talking points are the same and nothing is really new (well, besides the soldier capture, the New York Insult and Donald’s mom being a US citizen, hahaahaaa)
“Lots of us have made up our minds.”
Exactly.
