I remember an account of German Generals discussing an invasion of Switzerland with Hitler. They speculated as to how big was the Swiss Army. Hitler said something to the effect:
"Switzerland doesn't have an army. Switzerland is an Army."
There was also an anecdote from before the First World War in which a German Feldmarschal observed that if it came to a shooting war between Germany and Switzerland, the Germans would overrun the Swiss with a force three times the Swiss national population.
Oh, good! came the unexpected reply...Then we can all fire just three shots, and then go home.
