Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV on Wednesday that Ted Cruz might ultimately "end up in the courts" on the question of his citizenship and how it might affect his presidential campaign. "I've had this problem ever since Cruz announced," DeLay, the five-term Texas Republican who served from 2003 to 2005, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview.
"There is a difference between the definition of natural born and naturalization â and it has not been settled by any branch of government. "Cruz needs to address this in some way because it is a cloud right now in Iowa," DeLay said. [...]
DeLay, however, told Malzberg that the "most expedient" way for Cruz to settle any questions is to work through the courts. "You can't do anything through Congress," he said. "Congress isn't going to pass any bill to protect him â and I'm sure [President Barack] Obama wouldnât sign anything. "He's going to the courts if he's the nominee. The Democrats will use every avenue available to them.
"They sued me over a valid issue," DeLay said, referring to a 2006 lawsuit brought by Democrats after he dropped his re-election bid. "They'll sue him. "He'll end up in the courts one way or another."

Exactly.
And in the 1795 statute the parents are referred to as "citizens," as are the children born abroad.
and the children of citizens of the United States, born out of the limits and jurisdiction of the United States, shall be considered as citizens of the United States:If the parental citizenship was categorically different from that of the foreign-born children, the act would not have referred to both with the same term.
Naturalization accomplishes that. A naturalized person can't be a dual citizen, a native-born American can.

3.The childââ¬â¢s parents were married before the child was born. One parent is U.S. citizen and the other is a noncitizen. Before the childââ¬â¢s birth the U.S. citizen parent lived for at least five years in the U.S. At least two of those years were when the U.S. citizen parent was older than 14.
Ted Cruzâ birth fits all those criteria.
Ted’s parents were in the US military? I did not know that..
I think you don't want to go there. 14th amendment has two options.
- born in the US and subject to the jurisdiction
- naturalized in the US and subject to the jurisdiction
They won’t know the actual nominees until after the conventions, so they can’t print until after early Aug 2016. Right?
Insomuch that the laws that pass citizenship in such cases are literally, often times, called "naturalization acts," it's you who doesn't know law very well.
I would be all in for Cruz too. But if anyone thinks this is going to go away after the birther stuff on Obama they are delusional. And especially since the Dems AND the GOPe do not want Cruz.
No you explain in a rational way why you think the word citizens in the above phrase can not mean a single parent.
LOL.
I'll look for your response.
Please see post 94. I couldn’t agree with it more. It is far to risky right now to get our courts or congress to determine anything Constitutional. They will go with their globalist agenda. I really don’t think it is just a coincidence that 3 of our nominees are not NBC.
Not quite. In 1790, they said a child born overseas to naturalized citizen parents was fine.
LOLOL!
Unless someone can produce naturalization paperwork that made him a citizen later in his life, heâs natural born. An American mother who made him an American from day 1. If he was solely a Canadian citizen and then filed to become naturalized American later, then we âmightâ have an issue to discuss.
Can a Natural Born Citizen have dual citizenship at birth?
I did some research, and if he can, I sure couldn’t find it..thanks.
I applaud your persistence, but it’s impossible to get any information through to someone when they believe the 1790 Naturalization Act still applies, a citizen is a citizen is a citizen, or that the 14th Amendment applies despite the fact Canada is not IN *the jurisdiction of the United States*.
You can LOL, but you are LOLing at SCOTUS decisions that say that.
Okay, so let's examine how dumb you are:
1) I quoted the word "citizens," in response to you asserting that the law explicitly said "to one parent" (it didn't, but then, doesn't matter, since citizenship would derive from the fathe). 2) You then contradicted what I said, claiming I left words out of the sentence, which you then provided. 3) So then I asked you how "of the United States" made a difference. 4) So you reply now by quoting "citizens" out of my original quote of "children of citizens."
You see how dumb and frivolous your posts are? It's ALWAYS like this with you.
I was born in America. Both of my parents were American citizens at the time of their birth. All of my grandparents were citizens at the time of their birth. I am a natural born citizen. No law can grant me that status. No law can deny me that status. No person can question that status.
A Consular Report of Birth Abroad does not connote a naturalization process, FRiend. It is a paperwork step to report the fact of birth for an American citizen outside the boundaries of the United States.
I didn't know Cruz's mother was in the military.
Neither is Rubio.
He is flying under the radar hoping no one realizes he is a 14th Amendment anchor baby.
Don’t kid yourself..he knows. He is just trying to vacuum up as many campaign contributions as he can before he pulls the plug.
(He will return some money, but not all)
I'd vote for a Duck before I voted for a Bush. :-)
