“You don’t need to lecture me”

Not lecturing; just providing you an explanation.

I did notice you were voting for Cruz and so am I.

Unfortunately, Trump has sided with Hillary more on policies, in his recent past, than either Rubio or Bush. I see Trump as a potential sheep in wolf’s clothing and even less worthy than Rubio or Bush and I feel the same as you about those two turncoats.

As you said, our country is at stake and we can’t afford Trump appointing liberal SCOTUS justices just like Hillary, but on the bigger picture, we can’t afford for Trump to permanently damage any chance to fix that damage in the future either.

“get off your soap”

I’m sorry that you feel discussing Trump’s history and potential concerns is off limits and amounts to a “soap box”. It should be our duty to vet Trump on these issues.

You completely ignore my statement (on many occasions) that I plan on voting Cruz in the primary

Consequently everything else you blather on about is nonsense and lecturing.

Don’t bother.

Mitt Romney was savaged on FreeRepublic for little more than what exists in Trump's record.

I'm aware he was a businessman, not a politician. I know people can change over time. I recognize that his love of country may outweigh his expediency for business purposes.

I also understand that Trump's rough & ready persona and evident relish in shattering PC icons is as attractive to his followers -- as Romney's cultivated mien was to the political elite.

But, as Duke points out, isn't it FReepers' duty to vet Trump on these questions, just as we vetted Romney...and found him wanting.

For example, is Trump's political philosophy really any more conservative than Romney's was?

I suppose that depends on whether or not you believe him when he says "they've all gotta go!"? Or whether you believe him when he says "I hope they all come back"?

Same with the Syrian "refugees".

I can't hold "Kelo" against him. He's a developer, what view would you expect him to have?

Do you believe the Trump that's going to "bomb the $hit of ISIS"? Or the one that wants to limit collateral damage?
