Megyn Kelly asks Ted Cruz about Trump's New York Values.
Fox News ^ | January 13, 2016 | Youtube

Posted on 01/13/2016 8:09:12 AM PST by true believer forever

Skip to 4:40. Kelly asks Cruz about the push polls. She asks if his campaign had anything to do with them. He swivels, and then she reads from the Washington Examiner article about one of the questions in the push poll asking voters what they thought about Trump's liberal new york city values ... she then asks Cruz if that is why he made the statements throughout the day about Trump's values (notably on Howie Carr). Cruz keeps on the swivel and finally Kelly gives up.

She then asks him, "What are New York Values?"

Cruz replies: "The rest of the country knows what New York values are, and they aren't Iowa values and they aren't New Hampshire values."

Watching it was really awful as he rambled and stumbled up his words.

He is out there throwing out all his push poll lines. LOL

Well Cruz is right, Trump is a NY liberal posing as a conservative, most of the rest of America doesn’t agree with NY liberal morality and politics.

Oh come on. You managed to get that whole thing wrong.

He is not a NYC or NY State ( Albany ) liberal. Both crime syndicates (D) and (R) have no claim to him and he used them at will when convenient. No way in hell is he of the Carey-Cuomo-Koch-Dinkins-Spitzer-DeBlasio or the Rockefeller-Lindsay-Bloomberg-Pataki-Guiliani line of losers. Maybe Koch is a somewhat close comparison, a "lovable" maverick.

I'm mystified as to what he could have possibly have done to thread the needle here in any way to satisfy someone bigoted against New Yorkers! How could he have played it any better? Given his business is so tied to local bureaucracies ( unlike people like Gates and Buffet ) there is no way to escape interaction with the slimey underbelly of government.

But you're also wrong by saying he is posing as a conservative. He is NOT posing as anything, he is transparently himself, nothing could be clearer. He does not claim to be Scalia or Thomas, but he said Thomas is his idea of a good justice. He is not doctrinaire (C) but he is not running for Supreme Court, or Senator or the House or pastor or pope. He is running for bulldozer-in-chief.

If you see him playing a role then it is you who are projecting onto him and then complaining he is not matching your own projections. But no-one here or anywhere is being fooled as you believe. They know exactly who he is. They also know exactly what they want - for this particular job.

It would seem that the whole world is crazy and only you are left sane. It must be lonely.

I have said I'd support either one, over and over.

But some here are positively over the top in their criticism of Cruz. Its nuts.

Trump supporters are like 0bama supporters. Willfully ignorant of their candidate’s background and history, because he says things they like to hear.

Speaking of willfully ignorant supporters, check out all this nasty stuff that Cruz supporters are entirely ignorant of or in denial about:

Cruz and Cult-like religion

Cruz supporting legalization of illegal aliens

More on the aforementioned topic

I think his numbers will suffer if there’s a problem.

Next, there is the possibility that states that reject his candidacy could leave him off the primary ballot or even the general ballot.

Lawyers are amazingly creative. I’m sure they are out there already plotting how they will bring suits before, during, and after.

Finally, of course, there is the electoral college and/or Congress. They ‘could’ declare it an invalid candidacy.

So based on that comment can I infer that you believe that she and Trump are of the highest morals? Are you even a conservative?

I am a conservative and a Christian who believes what Christ said to the woman at the well, and then to those who would stone her because of her sin, "You without sin cast the first stone."

By that equivalency, you must consider yourself sinless and holy beyond words.

How many of the 47 other states can Cruz insult???

Cruz is making a fatal mistake here. He may win the Iowa battle but he will certainly lose the war. Not that it matters. Cruz never had a chance of winning OH against Hildabeast after campaigning for Obama’s TPA. He will never be POTUS.

There was a Senate vote for cloture on the “Audit The Fed” bill yesterday. Cruz was a supporter, but he was a no show, no vote yesterday.

Finally, of course, there is the electoral college and/or Congress. They ‘could’ declare it an invalid candidacy.

That is why they exist. If enough Cruz delegates decide he's not eligible, then they can vote their consciences and vote for another person to be president.

If the Majority of Congress believes he is not eligible, then they can refuse to certify the electoral college results and then they can determine who the next president will be.

But this is the way the Constitution was designed. The courts should not have any say in it, and the Constitution does not give them the power, nor would I want a bunch of unelected autocrats choosing my president.

If we don't like what Congress does with the electoral college, then we can vote them out. We can't vote out Federal Judges.

Now's usually about the time I start to feel sorry for the victim.

Giving you the benefit of doubt, it looks like "they" gotcha, Ted.

"They" set you up and you took the bait...now what?

How does this play out for you? You got your shot, now where does the story, and your story, go from here?

One possible plot twist?

You and Trump could strictly follow the Constitution and flip this mess into something amazing, just like Trump can turn and flip junk property into something amazing.

Man, what a hero you'd be if you two could do that! Then, your ego really would have something to hold up high.

You'd best work it out soon, though, Ted.

Trump is well on the way to doing it without you...which will also mean TO you, given the way you and things have been set up.

Your call...

If you are a man, you are certainly my kind of guy! Really enjoyed reading this.

Cruz would never win New York, so it’s votes are insignificant to him. Trump, on the other hand, has a fair shot at winning New York.

You miss the point. Cruz is obviously triangulating here and that will destroy his credibility as Mr. Principled Conservative when people catch on to the games he is playing. Telling gay NYers one thing at the same time he is telling Iowa evangelicals 180 degree opposite will not end well for Ted Cruz.

I'm a New Yorker and I know exactly what Cruz meant and he's absolutely right about that one.

NY has a terrible record for morality. If you ever lived there you'd know. The mainstream media does not report what goes on in those gay clubs, the back room sex. There are prostitutes all over the city. Living in NY means always watching over your shoulder when you go down the street. Any kid growing up in NY is exposed to drugs, sexual perverts, pornography, illegal dealings on many levels and to try and live a wholesome existence is nearly impossible. Or impossible.

Speak to any NYer and you will find they stick up for NY as if it's the greatest city in the world but ask them about all this and they will readily admit it.

So how is it the greatest city in the world?

Btw, with all the high taxes they pay there are still potholes all over the place and blackouts ever summer. How is it with all those people and all those taxes they still cannot figure out how to get the electrical plants built or functioning better to get them through the summer when everyone is running the ac units.

Corruption.

I lived in Manhattan for awhile, and I can't disagree with you about the environs. However, given Cruz's statements about NY values, I can't quite understand how or why he did this:

"Senator Ted Cruz has positioned himself as a strong opponent of same-sex marriage, urging pastors nationwide to preach in support of marriage as an institution between a man and a woman, which he said was “ordained by God.”

But on Monday night, at a reception for him at the Manhattan apartment of two prominent gay hoteliers, the Texas senator and Republican presidential hopeful struck quite a different tone."

Cruz shouldn't run his mouth, He needs to learn the art of the insult sandwich, which Trump has perfected.

The sandwich: Say something good about someone, make a concern troll statement, then finish by saying something good about someone.

For example: I love Ted Cruz. I am concerned about how the Dems will handle his citizenship issues. But Ted is a great guy.

Nobody is alienated and the damage is done.

The Art of the Deal in real time. :)

Maybe Conservative Review can make a "Twister board" of states based on their "morality" and "conservative" values. Because people need more things like that to post when they don't have a logical fact or reasoning to back them up.

I think this may have been a big boo boo for Ted. Time will tell.

Well, that right there is a major NY value, seems to me: say what you need to say to get what you want, rinse, repeat.
