I rent to the low end of the market. I’m flabbergasted by how much stuff all of my renters have. One, on limited income, has both satellite and cable. All of them have more -stuff-(entertainment, clothing, meat) than I have. They are frequently short of money.

When I was a child I asked my mother if we were poor. She said, -poor people spend what they have on beer and cigarettes. I spend what we have on meat and potatoes. No, we’re not poor. Poor is a state of mind.-
