That happened to me a few years back. 85 mph 2003 Lexus vs Thumper on Highway 10 outside of Odessa Texas. The Lexus won only in the sense that no one was hurt. The cars drivers side quarter panel was ripped clean off. The deer came over the guardrail and before it could hit the ground I sent it back over the guard rail.

New tractor trailers can’t take a front center impact from deer like the older ones could.
Had to do an “oh crap” maneuver around a deer in a 65 zone, semi behind me smacked it center dead on.
Lights, grill, radiator, all gone.
If it had been an 80’s manufacture, the deer would have been hamburger instead.

Interesting. So either he hit that deer at 60mph in the parking lot or he continued to drive with the deer in his grill.

Now that I’ve run out of your coffee, the local deer are just as docile as can be,
and they seem very happy to live in our forest where we do not allow hunting.
So, no. It’s not your fault, not by a long shot. I’ll testify to that in court if you
need to get my story on record.

“But whatever the reason, itâs certainly an issue in Paxton: 33 vehicle collisions with deer were reported in 2015, according to The Paxton Record.”
There are more than 33 car/deer accidents a WEEK in my county, if not more.

I live in elk country, and if you hit one of those bad boys your days might be over. I had a friend who hit a bear with his Mini-Minor, and the only thing running after that was the bear.

I hadn't heard Part II, the follow up call to her.
Seemed like a good sport about all the joking, what else could she do? ...hide, guess.

I drove on I-79 in SW PA one fall, and there was literally at least one dead deer per mile for about 30 miles. A couple of short stretches had three or four dead deer lined up on the shoulder.

I think Michigan has something like 70K car/deer accidents a year, but it is estimated that almost half never get reported!

You would think they would put up signs for the deer warning them to look both ways before crossing..........

IIRC, a retired couple were on their morning run to McD for their senior coffee .... hit the deer on the way into town....didn't notice it until someone brought it to their attention after they parked.
*Oh my gracious Agnes ... that is what that bump was.*

You were very lucky! I do not like driving at night b/c of all the bambi roamimg around ...but I used up the last of the venison last week ....could use some more for the freezer. But not at the cost of a collision.

It's a predator avoidance behavior that simply doesn't work with something as fast as automobiles, or so I was told by a wildlife manager. You got a deer on the road, you slow down, you honk, he ambles off to the right, and just as soon as you get close he bolts back across your path at full speed. For a four-legged predator trying to head him off, it's a great ploy. For my beloved 2006 WRX traveling at 60, not so much, which is why I asked the guy. After the car was totaled.
The deer, however, was popped neatly over the top of the car, and when last sighted was skedaddling off in the original direction. Airbag didn't even deploy. Unfortunately the turbo inhaled pieces of shrouding when the front grill was collapsing. Insurance feller just shook his head and said, "she's done." I used to hunt deer for fun, but now...it's for revenge.
