Jeb Bush insists that Donald Trump will not win in 2016, but says if he's "aspiring" to be the next President, "the dude ought to try to figure out what the nuclear triad is."
In an interview airing on MSNBC on Monday, Bush pushed back when asked if he was beginning to acknowledge the possibility Trump could win, after comments he made at a town hall seemed to indicate a shift in tone after months of maintaining Trump would lose.
Bush said Trump "sure as heck better [learn about the nuclear triad] if he's going to be the next president."
"Is there a sense that maybe you are saying that this could happen?" host Mika Brzezinski asked.
"No, no I made a mistake if I said that. He's not going to be President," Bush laughed. "But he should, if he's aspiring to the presidency -- the dude ought to try to figure out what the nuclear triad is. Come on."

Trump may not know about the “nuclear triad”; but we all
know about the “Bush Triad”. IF Jeb is coronated, that
will be “Three Bushes” and that’s a “triad of Bushes”.
Hey Jeb, did your brother ever find those nukes Saddam had?
Nuclear triad refers to the three ways to deliver nuclear bomps — ICBMs, bombers, submarine(missiles).
I was familiar with the concept because I read article in NR many years ago where it was mentioned. That was the only time and place I have saw the term mentioned.
The idea is that with the Triad the USA will have the ability to strike back even if a first strike hits the USA. Any potential rival must take that into account as they do the cost benefit analysis of using a nuclear weapon against the USA. None of this is classified or abstruse. It’s all been common knowledge for people who are even just a little bit interested in national defense. I understand why a newbie to politics, like Trump, is stumped by this subject. Wife shucking and bribing Democrats has been his forte. Now, the rich dilettante can try to find out about the Triad, a strategy that has been one of the USA’s most important defense tools since the Cold War.
It is very important to know about strategic bombers, intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and submarine launched nuclear missiles.
It is almost completely unimportant to know that some people refer to that combination as the nuclear triad.
Nuclear Triad is not a difficult concept.
A 15min briefing is good enough for something we hope never to use.
Nuclear triad was a thing about a month ago. At the time, I thought it odd that Trump stumbled over it.
Don’t recall Jeb making any comment then - could have missed it. But, to drop that a month later out of the blue is just weird.
Yeb has learned that the MSM only listen to him if he's slamming Trump or Cruz.
Go back to sleep Yeb.
And Jeb better read up on Common Core, climate change, the Iran deal, get new glasses, and make sure his wife knows that customs duty is payable when bringing thousands of dollars of designer clothes to the US.
How in the world does this man still have any money coming in? The writing on the wall can be read with the unaided eye from space. This isn’t 2008, where McCain went from the basement to being the Nominee.
Maybe he doesn’t get it. Maybe he’s laying the BS on so thick that the donors are buying it. Is there some shenanigan angle that the GOPe can use to force one of their Rove-approved candidates through to the nomination?
Bush must not really want the job as President—or he’ just naturally a poor campaigner. Trump nailed him—but the person who really took down Bush was Bush himself.
Redundancy and flexibility in our nuclear options.
Bombers good for sabre-rattling, may be called back if anyone changes their mind, basically suicide missions for the crews in light of today’s SAM threats.
Land based missiles need to be either First Strike or quick Second Strike since their silo locations are known and current missile guidance is very accurate.
Submarine launched are the real basis for M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction). You never know where they all are and they can get really close to your coastline, if necessary. Of sourse, they have very good range these days, also.

It must be that the "inevitability" aura still has some traction with some of them.
Land, sea and air.
The Mississippi model: attack the conservative candidate from the left in open primary states to get 'Rats to cross over and vote for the RINO.
My guess is that Little Jebbie and his crew will attempt this in SC.
Yes, the sacred Triad. A monument to interservice rivalry.
In reality, it should all be based on submarines. Land based and air dropped should be almost phased out. Only a token of those kept in case someone finds a way to compromise subs.
Can you tell me what the turtle joke is? I may have missed something or is it just a reference to that he’s slow...?
Re - B-1, B-2, B-52
These systems are obsolete (B52,B1) and/or available in such small numbers (B2, and really all of them these days) that they are irrelevant in meeting the MAD doctrines that were the foundation of the “triad”.
Basically the point of the “triad” was to preserve both flexibility in response and a survivable counterstrike force.
There are so few bombers left, and most of them are so obsolete, that they aren’t a credible “leg” according to the old logic.
Though they have the numbers, I also wonder about the current serviceability of the Minuteman system.
