Notes on a Phenomenon (Trump Taking It to Other Side's Turf, & It Feels Good)

So, for all the post-2012 talk about outreach to Hispanics and gays, in the end the GOP would rather have the old, safe, depressed-turnout model than a bunch of first-time Republican voters coming in and monkeying about with their racket.

The headline in Friday's local paper read: "BURLINGTON TRUMPED". That's what his fans liked. In the liberal heart of a liberal state, the supporters streaming out of the Flynn Theatre, waving genially to the social-justice doofuses across the way, couldn't recall a night like it. Not in Vermont. In New Hampshire, sure. In South Carolina. But not in Vermont. It felt good to be taking it to the other side's turf. And they'd like a lot more of it between now and November.

I’ll say this for Trump. He may never be able to give you specifics on any issue, but as a straight up politician he’s brilliant. Granted, he’s had a public persona for a very long time, so everyone knows who he is, but going straight into enemy territory and being brazen about it is political gold!

Despite what the polsters and party hacks say, I think that the people who turn out in such numbers in such foul weather for a rqally will turn out to vote. It worked that way when we turned Hardin County KY from 10:1 Democrat to 2:1 Democrat and landslided a conservative Republican US Rep. and County Judge Executive.

Never knew that Steyn is not a REAL REPUBLICAN, for REAL REPUBLICANS are ONLY allowed to support Cruz, at least according to all the crap I’ve been getting this morning.

Well, I support both - it’s just that Trump can win in a landslide, while Cruz will win by a whisker, if at all (and the others, of course, simply won’t win).

It’s crazy to think they’d be motivated to turn out to a rally but won’t turn out to vote. BTW, did you also read the article in Steyn’s voice

TRUMP is my man
The man with the plan.
To make AMERICA GREAT for GREAT AMERICANS

There are no longer pastels, but seen now is BOLD color. White, black, brown, red, and blue. The only color missing might be GREEN (only as those ‘folks’ are sitting in the topmost branches protecting their tree)

GO TRUMP Make America great. Eliminate the corruption and stronghold of those criminals.

As long as a Democrat is in any political contest of great importance I always worry about vote fraud. Anyone who denies that vote tampering still doesn’t go on, and that Democrats will do anything to gain or retain political power, is foolish. It doesn’t matter how well our side comes out to the polls because the Democrats always have a cheat plan in place.

“He may never be able to give you specifics on any issue”

This is a liberal media meme. Do not drink the kool-aid. Take a look at his position papers on his website.

Candidates do not read their position papers on the stump. But you know where he stands on the issues.

Can you imagine if Trump were NOT in this race?

We would still have the eGOP whining about how we needed to be more ‘inclusive’ to lure Hispanic voters, and begging them to pretty please vote for us instead of HilLIARy, who would be waltzing to victory with no need to try to “bing in Bill” to salvage here slo-mo railway crash of a candidacy (AND talk of indictments would be GONE out of fear of her)

The Donald, boldly going where no Republican has gone before, right to the heart of the Hispanic vote and, yes, to the vote of Americans of African descent.

The Republican Establishment, faint of heart as ever, has always wrongly supposed the only path to even making a dint in that demographic, to to move closer to the DEMOCRAT position, without ever actually exceeding it, of course.

But turning to the PRACTICAL way of doing things, which deep down appeals to a lot more folks than popularly imagined, has an enormous attraction of its own.

The thing is, most of the schemes cooked up by liberals are so complex, and just full of sham reasoning and outright demagoguery (you can’t talk about this and you can’t talk about that), relating to very little of real importance in people’s lives, that they are not amenable to easy understanding, and people’s eyes glaze over, just turn it over to the experts. No real-world solution ever has to be that hard to understand.

Here is where The Donald shines - he relates what are some real-world problems, and he brings them down to the level where the common people can join in and discuss them openly. Of course, this means the Political Correctness, the source of a great deal of the “complexity” in the national discourse, has to be discarded. That alone is a greatly refreshing idea.

For Trump, right now the ‘other side’ are mainstream conservatives. I guess I wouldn’t be too proud of that.

The Hispanic and Black votes are ripe for the picking and Trump is the man to do it.

The Democrats have been able to get away for decades with patronizing and "protecting" these groups - mainly by keeping them in the ghettos and keeping them on the government dole.

One of the biggest fears of the liberals is that they will fail to keep them safely segregated away in the urban ghettos and that they might want to better themselves by work and living among white people in the more affluent suburbs and worst of all...gasp...suddenly voting Republican and looking to cut the size of government so that they can keep more of their hard-earned money to support themselves and their families.

Can u imagine when he’s president, he will tell the truth about everything. He will go into detail about why he had to do this or that. He will explain what really happened in a deal. He WILL be transparent.

Trump will campagn in and take territory that the GOPe would cede to Hillary. Trump will make low energy Hillary fight for every vote. He needs to go to downtown Detroit and talk about how the progressives ran that city into the ground. He can take Pennsylvania from the dems. If he takes Pennsylvania and New York, he’s in. He can probably take Colorado from the lilly whites. They are for Bernie, and the other group of democrats, blue collar and long time citizen latinos around Pueblo, I’d say are in play. If he gets them, coupled with a low turnout for Hillary, he takes Colorado.

Great (long) piece by Mark.

Does a great job of capturing the essence of Trump.

Plus it’s funny.
