I think those are the weeds I get lost in. (And the invective that comes to dominate the discussions make it hard to get out of them.)

I really appreciate that. Know that I am not always correct, and welcome being corrected, but I try to make my point of view clear, acknowledging opposing points and noting disagreement without being angry about the existence of disagreement, and so on.

I know the outcomes aren't academic, they affect real people for better or worse, and sometimes in life-altering ways. But for purposes of chatroom discussion, I try to make it feel "academic."
