Because of his US citizen mother, Cruz was born an American citizen. That is not argued.
Most scholars who've studied it with Rubio, McCain, Obama, and now Cruz find that fact makes him natural born by default. He did not require naturalization. If you don't need naturalization, then you must be natural born.
....as I understand all the current debates.

You would certainly hope so. I’m withholding judgement on Trey/Benghazi committee until I see the final report.
Regardless of what the report says, even if it damns Obama, Hillary, etc., they won’t be held to account for leaving Americans to die. I heard Earnest a while back “parsing” this ... he had changed the meme to we don’t leave Americans ‘in uniform’ behind. This makes getting deserter Berghdahl back “ok” & since the 4 at Benghazi weren’t in military uniform, leaving them to die appears ‘excusable’ using this contortion of language.

True. Fr has a thread today on that topic on how she told aides to stop classifying emails as secret or top secret and run them as regular emails which is patently illegal and carries a 10-year jail sentence.
AND bars her from holding any federal office according to .......
18 US Code 107: 'Concealment, Removal, or Mutilation Generally: Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both. ... and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States.'

Thanks very much cheerio.
On the stuffy steffy show Rush wannabe Hugh Hewitt, the biggest Rhlino around trying to make amends with conservatives by revealing that Hillary just did what you just wrote about declassified secret emails to normal just to get it run.
She knows dam well thats illegal.she knows he’s guilty as sin.
The big question is how much can the media ignore all this and will anything at all be done before before the elections?

He did not require naturalization. If you don't need naturalization, then you must be natural born. So does that mean that the 300,000 anchor babies born each year to illegal aliens are natural born and eligible to be President? What about the thousands of children born each year to tourists?
There are two kinds of natural born citizens: (1) Those born on US soil (jus solis); and (2)those born elsewhere to US citizens thru blood (jus sanguinis)--derivative citizenship. The latter requires that certain conditions be met and that you must apply to gain citizenship. It is not automatic.

I think one thing we are all over looking this morning is just how deceptive a job the drive by media did on Zero’s eligibility. It was put down so hard and probably the most important thing that was done was the big agencies dia, CIA, FBI and undoubtedly Secret Service have just done a huge job on this information on the birth certificate and eligibility
and where he was born
The disinformation campaign was so good no one really knows the absolute truth.there’s a half a dozen solutions that we came up with but we really don’t know which is which.
and that’s all due to the massive dis information campaign these guys are as good as anyone has ever been in lying to the public.

We do know thru the work of Arpaio that the long form BC is a fraud. The MSM and Congress for that matter have shown no interest in pursuing it. Sad.

...the history and facts about natural born citizenship as it apples to eligibility for the Presidency. In the time of our framers, primary importance seems to have been placed upon the father and his citizenship over that of the mother. Nevertheless, meaning a person born in the US to American citizens. (plural)
We need this resolved by SCOTUS sooner rather than later.
From Minor vs. Happersett: The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. However, the term of art at the time was clearly defined. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.
The "Law of Nations" is referenced in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. Ben Franklin testified to the fact that the Framers consulted Vattel's work while drafting the Constitution and wrote a letter thanking American diplomat Charles Dumas for the copies of the book.

there is going to be an all out nuclear war and with all that went on with Obama's FAKE certificate they will want payback. And we should angrily point the finger of blame at the criminal in chief, the FAKE BC, and his enablers...from both sides.

....as I understand all the current debates. --
I think that's a fair and accurate summary or one side of the debate, the side that concludes Cruz is NBC.
Th way I summarize the other side, the one that says Cruz is not NBC but is naturalized, is stated by SCOTUS.
Bellei was not "born . . . in the United States," but he was, constitutionally speaking, "naturalized in the United States." Although those Americans who acquire their citizenship under statutes conferring citizenship on the foreign-born children of citizens are not popularly thought of as naturalized citizens, the use of the word "naturalize" in this way has a considerable constitutional history. Congress is empowered by the Constitution to "establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization," Art. I, S: 8. Anyone acquiring citizenship solely under the exercise of this power is, constitutionally speaking, a naturalized citizen.
Rogers v. Bellei, 401 U.S. 815 (1971)
I persist that the legal question is purely academic. The court won't interfere with the political process -- the constitution envisions the possibility of an ineligible candidate obtaining the most votes.
I can't imagine Congress reversing the outcome of an election of a person who was a citizen at birth, and once seated, SCOTUS won't touch the case. Can you imagine the upheaval? It would be socially unsettling to say the least. No, the appearance of everything proceeding in order is more important than getting it right.

This issue has never been litigated. It needs to be. Actually the SCOTUS stated:
Under Common Law, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.

The Wallace interview of DJT this AM was good from both of them. Trump reaffirmed his stand on China and the Cruz citizenship controversy. I believe that Trump gets better each appearance he makes in any venue with his straight talk about whatever issue is at hand. He immediately responded to Wallace questioning him about the Cruz NBC eligibility status by pointing out that he did not initiate the topic. Trump spoke the truth, as have many others, that Cruz needs to get the matter settled or it will have an adverse effect on the 2016 elections when the socialist democrat party uses the questionable legal status of Ted Cruz to their advantage. It does not matter a whit to the socialists what the legal answer is. Just as with all else they glom on to whatever opportunity presents itself to advance their political agenda. DJT did not create the citizenship controversy but he does have to deal with it as it comes up. I know of two plus attorneys who admire Ted Cruz for his constitutional knowledge and would have supported him if not for the citizenship matter. They now support DJT because over time, watching and listening to him in debates and town-halls, they are convinced that he is this country's best presidential candidate who respects the constitution and who can actually get things done that the GOPe only talks, and postures, about.

I saw something similar at the Birther Report website. Regardless, the issue has never been litigated and needs to be. We should not at this point be arguing about the meaning of natural born citizen as it applies to the Presidency. Our experience with Obama should have been the call to act. Instead, we have the GOP saying that now that our guys are involved, Cruz, Rubio, and Jindal, there is no problem where you are born, whether you are a dual national or not, or whether both of your parents were citizens or not.
Unlike the Reps, the Dems will make it an issue if either Cruz or Rubio gets the nomination.

Why no controversy over Rubio’s eligibility? I could be wrong but I thought both his parents were non-citizens at the time of his birth.
