After eight years of stridently progressive misgovernment it simply isn't time for a moderate in any sense, for one thing. For another, Yeb was presented to the voters as the one inevitable candidate so just shut up and vote for him, he's what you're getting. That's going to cause an understandable resentment. Third, that "moderate" classification, so seemingly important for an appeal to the broadest voter population, contains certain positions that as the author points out are simply unacceptable to conservatives, immigration amnesty being the worst of these.

That's reason enough for disapproval, but the mockery stems from the man himself: clunker after clunker such as "Yeb can fix it!" and the infamous tippy-toes picture, petulant name-calling, and an absolutely radiant sense of being completely out of touch with the concerns of middle-class voters. Yeb is the kid who tries too hard to be cool. He's the insider pretending to be an outsider, the pampered brat pretending to be a regular guy. He's the guy with the starched white shirt rolled up to the forearms trying to figure out how to eat a corn dog at the county fair. He's the very personification of the Establishment pol who wants your vote but not your presence.

That's why.

He’s not running for the Republican nomination.

He is vying to be Hillary’s pick for VP on her traitor to the USA ticket.

Did anyone mention Enron yet?
