This has been an issue for me years prior to Trump announcing. I am a very strong constitutionalist, I believe our Founding Fathers wrote what they believed and believed what they wrote.

They made a clear distinction between the type of citizen who could become president and those who could only become senators or representatives. They said the man must be a natural born citizen.

They also said that birth abroad must have two citizen parents to make the child a citizen. This is all clear in additional writings and letters of the time.

Unfortunately, they could not have conceived of a world where courts and voters would parse their language, change their meanings and because of personality cults, throw out their intentions.

In 2008 Liberals decided it was time for a black president and lowered the bar to accept a person with one citizen parent, born in the United States instead of a natural born citizen.

Now, in 2016 Conservatives have decided to lower the bar even further and accept a person with one citizen parent, not even born in the United States.

You will ignore the Constitution, the writings of the time, the laws and the cases where the Supreme Court has ruled. It’s cool because it’s time for a Conservative to be president, who cares where he came from or if he’s eligible.

When this election season started, before Trump announced and I started paying attention to him, I had determined that to me, Cruz, Jindal and Rubio were not qualified. I first looked at Perry and then Walker. Even Christie was researched. I did not consider Bush because I don’t believe he has the mental capabilities needed for the job.

You will do what you will do, without thinking and insulting any who disagree with you. That’s fine. What will you do when they start changing the 1st Amendment or the 2nd? They have already changed the 14th to include anchor babies. They have already pretty much thrown out the 4th and the 10th. No wonder Washington considers the Constitution “just a piece of paper”

Duchess, when did Trump end his financial dealings with the New York / New Jersey MAFIA? Or has that officially ended.

So your determination and opinion supersedes codified US law...???

I am to assume you think all codified law after 1790 is not valid or up for determination...?

Can’t have it both ways...

You prepared to give up your right to vote...(if you are female) ?

I think it’s a bad law...

well said.

The irony is that this is a self-proclaimed strict constitutionalist. Ambition, for some, overrides everything. That being said, this really ought to be adjudicated - just like Trump said. Then threads like this could disappear....but probably won't.

In the 12 election, 60,000,000 million Americans lowered the bar as far as it could go, dug out the floor underneath it and went subterrainan when they traded integrity to vote for a guy that profits from BBQing the dead and dismembered babies his very own laws as Governor created.

So I wouldn’t get too excited about low bars over citizenship and birthplaces, Princess.

Thanks for the post. It further enlightened me.

You refer to the writings and letters of earlier leaders. Are those things the same as a ruling by a court? I think not.

You refer to “Conservatives deciding” and “Liberals deciding”. Are those opinions law? I think not.

You say to me “You will do what you will do without thinking ...”. All I’m doing now is trying to get to the bottom of the Cruz citizenship question. I could give my opinion on the future of America, but that’s irrelevant to what I’m trying to do.

How about explaining why you think I’m “not thinking”.

You talk about Washington considering the Constitution just a piece of paper. Instead of “Washington” I’d say “the current Washington”.
