Rasnov, Romania. It's about 30 miles from Brasov in the Carpathian Alps. Summers are spectacular, but you might want to travel in the winter, since it gets very cold.

Its all academic for me now anyway but I was born and raised in the Adirondacks. 40 below wasn’t uncommon in winter.
I see the pictures of the landscapes there and just drool.
