Except there is a grand total of one major sugar cane growing operation in Florida left. Losing that will have negligible effect on the Florida economy.

However, with Cuba so close to Florida, the sugar refiners in Florida could do booming business processing sugar cane, especially given the very low transportation costs.

Like I said imported sugar cane competes with American sugar beets not sugar cane.

If the US government heavily restricts imports of Mexican sugar cane despite NAFTA I don’t see the flood gates opened for Cuban sugar cane.
