There were no gun seller licenses until 1968. That meant for 193 years it was ok. Then a president get shot and the govt does this. But other presidents were shot [Garfield] etc and nothing happened to our guns.
So the whole gun law licensing is unconstitutional by practised precedent and the Second Amendment, in writing and in practice.
You could buy 22 rifle in 1957 from an unlicensed gun dealer, an ARMY store, a local HARDWARE store- you could also buy dynamite for blowin up them pesky tree stumps...

We done been stockin up since WW2 just for the kinda crap.
What if the speed limit only applied to those who “regularly” exceeded it and nobody in the guv would say what the limit was? How could you know if you were driving legally when it was all up to the “totality of the circumstances”?
On a related matter - if Obummer actually wanted to increase the percentage of sales that go through a background check, he should ask congress for budget authority to pay the fee. What other Constitutional right requires a citizen to pay for using it? Should journalists pay every time they use the 1st Amendment to “transfer” information?
