Here is your GOP front-runner, Donald J. Trump in an interview approximately 25 years ago. Running for POTUS - as he said he would, if the country ever got so bad.

Ross Perot gve an interview to Ted Koppel in the 70s or 80s in which he said he’d run for president and start an organization called United We Stand America.
Do we want a Perot?
Wow, that first question went on for over a minute. If I had a wormhole I would have reached back in time and slapped the guy.
It’s right there folks. It’s right there.
Perot would have been better than GHWB.
The interviewer is a moron.
Consistently brilliant.
Thanks for posting.
Thanks Maggie. Had been out a few days. If anyone knew whether it had been posted knew it would be you
Now to catch up.
Otoh did a little stumping for Trump during the holidays
TTTT
100 times better.
Great find.
PING
25 yo TRUMP Interview
He saw no one else could do it - so he stepped up to the plate.
Thanks for the find and sharing the link. Trump follows thru after 25 years. Seeing no one step up to do the job needed, he makes the final offer. He will not let US down.
The problem with education is liberalism.
I majored in a type of math at the graduate level (econometrics/organisation research)...but I have learned more for free at khanacademy.org than I learned in grad school...and I was top of my class.
Watched too much pro football today...must have a concussion.
I am queasy about Trump exactly because of this video... Although unapologetic about the mistakes we make as a country internationally (particularly in defense), conversely he promotes anti-free market remedies (like tariffs) which left wing Republicans and Democrats put in place with the Smoot-Hawley Act in the 1930s.
He is advocating for “common sense”- through government intervention- in peoples lives. Instead of advocating for the restoration of Federalism and the 10th amendment (specifically the part about things being left to the people), a cure for many of the ills in our society- he pushes for the same sort of Executive Branch Administrative demagoguery that is indicative of people like Barry O and Huey Long.
I’m still not sure about this guy and the video doesn’t help :-S
Having spent time in inner city schools, I believe that getting fathers in the home would be enormously helpful. Single mothers can be heroic in their efforts, but they can’t be fathers. When home lives are broken and chaotic, students bring the chaos with them to school.
I also don’t believe that getting an education is an important value in the inner city. Again, there’s no one solution, but preparing all students for college is not realistic. Not everybody goes to college. Not everybody wants to. I’ve seen some kids who act out but are happy to do practical tasks, like getting the projector to work. IMO, we need more job training in high school. This can become a touchy subject because of the “racist” label, however.
The problem will not be easy to fix, but we need to at least aim in the right direction and slowly make progress.
For the most part, there are no fathers in inner city schools...there are only sperm donors.
