As I understand it, there are armed Chicago police at the airport in compatible numbers to other airports. These “unarmed police” don’t look like cops (in terms of physical fitness), and judging by the ethnicity of those shown on the news it just looks like makework/workfare for certain people who couldn’t make the cut as cops.
