If I'm not mistaken, the ranchers' troubles began in the younger Bush administration, just as the Waco situation began in the last weeks of the elder Bush administration. Ruby Ridge also took place under the first President Bush. Irrespective of who wins the election this year, the permanent bureaucracy in Washington continues. If there is any chance for success at the ballot box, it cannot come from the Republican establishment, or through supporting their candidate, if they can defeat Cruz or Trump. Then there are the worthless GOP senators: McCain, Cornyn, Graham, McConnell, Cochran, etc., and their counterparts in the House, starting with Paul Ryan.
