But it wasn’t in any way aggrandizing for the father to be listed as both director and president—that was required by Texas law. Sure, the Dad may (or may not) be aggrandizing—but that in itself does not reflect poorly on Ted.

It's weird that you would identify yourself as "Director of Kingdom Translations" when signing up for a speaking event. It obviously gives a false impression. All that said, the argument does not stand or fall on the Kingdom example.

Your whole bit belittling the dad for his legal Texas listing of his little apparent side business (and tax write off?) was both petty and ignorant.

Charismatic Christianity isn’t my cup of tea. And yes, Cruz’s preacherly style and associations thereof could well turn off a good deal of moderates and independents especially outside the bible belt. That’s why I’d rather see him get voted in as Trump’s veep. Trump does quite well with those demographics in which Cruz is likely weak. Perry’s similar ties BTW were off-putting as well.

Cruz plays the religious angle up in part, I imagine, because that’s the primary interest of his largest donor. As the VP in a Trump Administration, I imagine Cruz would learn to tone it down and would also come to identify as representing all Americans, not just Texas Republicans. He also would be well positioned to run for a third Trump term without depending on backers who are largely religiously motivated.

But I don’t see anything wrong with a not-my-cup-of-tea denomination of Christianity believing that they should take their Christ-led selves out to contribute to the world in part by earning leadership positions not only in politics, but also atop the rest of the Seven Mountains.

We lived with Romney’s Mormonism and I imagine we can live with Cruz’s whatever it is.

But I hate to see the Cruz/Trump wars on this site get too vicious. The best of all worlds will have them together running as Trump/Cruz at the end and sowing bitterness among similarly conservative Freepers along the way IMO is counterproductive.
