Currently, using rubbing alcohol isn’t a good idea. They’ve
taken to making it with petroleum-based products. (Plain
old grain alcohol or vodka is organic & safe.)

I take garlic capsules; they seem to make my body odor
repellent to insects. Ticks don’t latch on to me any more!
- Of course, it might take Raid if one is going out into
the woods.

Remember, what we rub on our skin absorbs into the blood
stream same as if you swallowed it. (Rub an essential oil
on the bottoms of your feet; wait a few minutes and you’ll
actually TASTE the oil!)

Oh, I’m familiar with the skin barrier, though molecule size and solubility play an important role. You can put a couple fingers are in acetone and blow into an organic vapor meter and it will show up right away. I don’t recommend that as a frequent activity but it’s safe enough for a demonstration...
