Putin names US among threats in new Russian security strategy

A new appraisal names the United States as one of the threats to Russia's national security for the first time, a sign of how relations with the west have deteriorated in recent years.

The document, "About the Strategy of National Security of Russian Federation", was signed by President Vladimir Putin on New Year's Eve. It replaces a 2009 version, endorsed by then- President Dmitry Medvedev, the current prime minister, which mentioned neither the United States not NATO.

It says Russia has managed to heighten its role in solving global problems and international conflicts. That heightened role has caused a reaction by the West, it says.

"The strengthening of Russia happens against the background of new threats to the national security, which has complex and interrelated nature," the document says.

Conducting an independent policy, "both international and domestic" has caused "counteraction from the USA and its allies, which are striving to retain their dominance in global affairs."

That in turn is likely to lead to "political, economical, military and informational pressure" on Russia, the document says."

Nonsense. If Vlad was actually concerned he would release the reams of data proving the regime lying constantly to We The People.

Why is this a surprise? Leaving aside the justification for it, look at all the saber rattling from this administration & the GOPe set.

Don’t fret. The paleos will presently be by to explain that Russia is our friend, and that the Cold War is over.

Well, John Kasich says he wants to punch Russia in the nose.

And considering our degenerate government’s efforts of pushing and promoting homosexuality all over the world, I wouldn’t blame Putin for viewing us a depraved enemy of Western civilization.

This is tragic, but who can blame them. Just listening to both political party debates proves the move correct. One of the great historical tragedies of our time will be the missed opportunity to develop better relations with Russia and in so doing assist in their transition to a more free society. Instead we have rebuilt old hostilities, punished their positive moves (capitalism and free trade), burned bridges, lied about expanding NATO, and become far less free and less good ourselves. Of course they see us as a threat: A military threat as well as an economic and a cultural threat (pushing our immorality on their culture with Zero and his homo advocacy).

The Cold War WAS over but the neocons and even the political left (for different reasons) would not let go of their fond memories. So they worked hard to bring it back. Looks like they’ve succeeded. Congratulations.

Dear Vlad:

Let me be the first to say that you are incorrect. The current Marxist in Chief is no threat to you, Russia or her interests.

Let me be the first to say also, that if we get an American president again, your sphincter will pucker.

Sincerely,

M Kehoe (who posts with his real name).

LOL. Well, not all of America is to blame. Just the stupid Americans who love war so much they’ve lost all common sense and diplomacy (neocons) or who obsess over deviancy so much they can see nothing else (liberals).

America is full of sinful humans like every other country. We are not above reproach at all times just because we are Americans. We do not hold a higher value to God. Our generation must do what is right and good and stop feeling superior just because we were blessed with wise ancestors. Other countries are not in permanent evil status just because they have been saddled with rotten histories. They can repent and turn to God and get His blessing just as we can become corrupt and evil and reap His punishment.

I am not saying they are good and we are evil. I am saying that they are not evil and we are good. God will judge individuals as well as nations. No one and no country gets a free ride to blessing or condemnation just because of who went before them except in some sense, Israel (for a specific redemptive purpose that benefits the entire world). Though even they have famously been judged for their sins at different times. Certainly Israeli individuals will be judged on the same scale as the rest of us. Beware of arrogance that labels America as always right and everyone else as always wrong. It is a self-righteousness that will destroy us.

Yeah, the neocons and liberals made Russia invade Georgia, illegally annex Crimea and invade Ukraine...

Russia is not necessarily a friend, but America has more in common with Russia than it has in common with its own president.
