A friend of mine has 2 really nice rifles, one of which is a glass bedded match grade M1A. The other is a very well put together heavy barrel AR. He’s got a pile of magazines for both and probably 5,000 rounds of hand loads for each.

But not a single sling or magazine pouch.

I just shake my head.

That’s what I’m talking about. LOL.

I own a bunch of purpose-built black or green tactical stuff, but I also have a full set of civilian “guerilla” gear that comes from Home Depot and the hunting department at WalMart and Gander Mountain. All the civilian stuff is dual purpose but if 2A duties every become necessary, I won’t show up looking like the guy that the sniper needs to take out first.

Its not really the gear. Its the mindset. The guys I know with the safe full of guns and no slings do not have the mindset. They have this fantasy of the Big Climactic Hollywood Battle where all the gun owners line up on side and the loyal forces of the government line up on the other and, after a few volleys, they surrender. There is no lead-up with skirmishes and the aftermath is peace, love, and unicorns. It’s the old “Short, Victorious War” theory.

I see Kosovo in our future unless something changes soon.
