“However, the simplest and most logical reading of his statement is that he is referring to our shared values as Christians.”
He certainly was referring to shared Christian values, but he connected “our” with him receiving that vote as the natural progression voting based on those Christian values; that was my point. He was saying, “If you vote Christian values, you will have to vote for me. My campaign and Christian values are the same.”
“Perhaps you do not share those values or beliefs, and that is why you cannot understand that basic concept?’
Just plain snot. Usual snark from Cruz supporter.
And what is wrong with making that appeal? If you have values that are important and you would like to see represented in government, and the candidate shares those values and also wants to represent them in government, what is wrong with asking for support on that basis? Trump does the exact same thing on the immigration issue - you want something done about illegal immigration, he wants something done about illegal immigration, and he wants you to vote for him based on those shared "values". Is it only because the value Ted is talking about are CHRISTIAN values that you have a problem?
He was saying, "If you vote Christian values, you will have to vote for me. My campaign and Christian values are the same."
Not even close. Just your own twisted interpretation of what is a fairly straight-forward request for support based on shared goals and values.
