I that a state law? I buy two every spring. One for inflating the wifes strawberries with vodka and the other for the tackle box to inflate worms with air.

You’re right that it appears to be regulated state by state, and not all states require a prescription.

My mother was diabetic and I remember she carried her prescription around with her in her purse, in case anyone questioned why she was carrying needles. Rest her soul, no one would have mistaken her for a drug dealer or heroin addict, but it always impressed me as a infuriating example of how government rules inconvenienced the conscientious people who tried to follow them, while doing nothing to reduce drug abuse, especially after they started free needle distribution to addicts.

It varies by state. Some don’t allow it at all. Some allow a limited number to be sold at a time. Some don’t have any restrictions. I buy insulin syringes for my diabetic cat with no scrip and no problem. My friend in a neighboring state can only buy them 10 at a time. She stocks up when she visits me.
