Go Rebels!
Stanford......the Clorox team.....rolling
I was just in LA for my annual Christmas trip.
My son lives in Sierra Madre and asks each year that I extend my trip so that we can see the Rose Bowl Parade with a short walk from his house.
Each year as I'm leaving, the city crews are already putting up the parade trimmings, etc.
I'm from the city (Mobile) where Mardi Gras began in the US so....I'm not overly impressed with parades.
Been to ‘Norlins too but can’t honestly agree that Mardi Gras floats come close to Rose Parade floats...
But care not a bit either way...
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! The UCLA fan takes a play on words seriously. Growing up in SoCal and watching the great rivalry all my life between USC and UCLA has been quite interesting. USC fans would cheer FUCLA and UCLA fans would cheer “Trojans leak.”
God rest my mom’s soul. She died a couple days after 9/11 from pancreatic cancer.
Sorry, no AA degree. I have an actual degree and taught real estate law and economics at the college level for 10 years. Any time you are up for a battle of wits, I’m in. But don’t bring a knife to a gunfight.
Happy New Year
We still own LA. And come Labor Day weekend, I’ll be down in Texas to cheer on the Trojans as they turn the Tide.
Doug...all in good fun, no?
As to 9/11, I’ll up you one with having a loved one in the Pentagon that day who would have been vaporized if he had gone for a cup of coffee.
Did I win?
You be one smart cookie so no wit battle here though a knife comes in handy if the gun jams....
Interesting fact: Stanford’s band is a “scramble” band, a type of marching band found at very few schools, usually the elite universities (think Harvard, Princeton, Stanford types). Known as much for their antics and outrageous outfits (and even instruments) as their music playing.

LOL...wouldn’t doubt it.
I do. Bring marching bands back to the Super Bowl.
All in good fun.
Glad your loved one survived the Pentagon. The good Lord gave my mom 82 years. If the meek shall inherit the earth, she is now one of the landlords
Oh yes, Ohio State never fails to impress.
I attended a Rose Bowl Game when Katherine Smith was the parade's Grand Marshal. In addition to performing her hit song God Bless America, if my memory is correct, she also sang the National Anthem. The UCLA Bruins won that game, overpowering Ohio State.
And you know I meant no disrespect to your mom...and my lucky husband told me to post that line...yes, a whimp out but I’ll take it...
Never got too serious about the rivalry even when there...Mark Harmon was our q’back then so it was more of a glam show. Had more fun at Stanford and Cal games....loved the b ball though. Lucky to have seen it and met Wooden.
Totally admire your career of teaching...did a little myself with young ones. Was teaching 3rd graders outside of DC when the plane hit..heard the impact though I didn’t know what it was st the time. Immediately woke my parents up in SF to tell them we were okay though it was impossible to call after that.
Happy New Year to you also, FRiend...hope you have a good one....
Beat SC!
male and female commentators were doing their last Rose Parade after 35 years on on air for the event.
= = =
Their last time.
So I think they were blabbing extra.
Comments on the floats was good, informative, but ... they talked over the bands’ playing.
As one who marched some miles in parades, I like to hear these bands. They work very hard to be heard as well as seen.
To each his own ;-) But I think that broadcasters have found most people prefer sports highlights programs at half-time.
So far in Bowl Season, The Irish have the best uniforms.
Two starters on field from Franklin TN
Where I’m currently in repose on the sofa watching the game(s)
And both lads from prep schools
Brentwood Academy...very conservative
Battleground Academy....pretty conservative with ancient roots
Both cost more than most public colleges
I’m I the only one who finds it weird to keep hearing the name Barry Sanders on the field?
Is it the 80s again
A great parade and game, would you say?!?
And who wouldn’t make the trip to watch his kid in the Rose Bowl?
Sheesh....
