Most LEO's are minimally trained and not really proficient. There's a state police officer who I occasionally see at the gun club I frequent. He only uses the outdoor range when there is no one else there. He shoots from behind cover, from varying distances, different positions, and seems to be making a concerted effort to improve/practice his skills. I suspect he's an atypical example.
My handgun skills are effective against well-lit paper targets at 50 feet. And maybe a bunny rabbit.
Ya never know.
I learned by watching movies and TV, so I'm ready.
“Sadly, too many gun owners are untrained in safe firearms handling and combat shooting.”
Learning how to shoot a gun or gun safety is not rocket science. And most of us will never receive combat shooting. The fairly numerous incidences of people having to use guns for self-defense that I personally know about merely required the showing of the gun.
