" The show took a decided left turn with his replacement Mike Farrel. "

Or one might say that Mike Farrel came onto the show after Alan Alda, the communist dictator that he was/is, decided he wanted a sidekick more in his own image and had Wayne Rogers fired and brought in Ferrel, whom he had no doubt already lined up for the gig.

End result, a show that some of us didn't care for because Alan Alda was insufferable enough all by himself, became exponentially worse with him and his lackey.

It was nice to see Wayne Rogers living well and talking about real life when seen in the media. He was a better man than many... RIP.

No, Wayne wanted out because he wanted to do a Dashiell Hammett-style show, and eventually got "City of Angels", which wasn't bad but got canned quickly (13); a longer run than McLean Stevenson's "Show" (12) but not as long as McLean's godawful "Hello, Larry" (35) -- all three NBC!
