Richard Hooker, the original author of the first two books, was quite the conservative, as shown more in the second book, “MASH Goes to Main”! Both of these were largely autobiographical and very well done.

The remaining books in the series, done with the co-author, Butterworth?, were just fun reads capitalizing on the movie and TV successes. I did enjoy them just as comic novels.
