I appreciate loving and generous hearts, and children have often been raised in a caring manner by two women: a mother and a grandmother, typically, or an aunt and an older sister, etc. These situations, though not ideal, are responses to children deprived of a father (and often a mother) by some acknowledged disruption or tragedy. It is always a best-we-can-do response to a regrettable circumstance which led to the child's lack of natural parents.
But these women, their situation is quite different! Why? because they have deliberately, made th4se children's fatherlessness permanent by intent. Neither one, I am guessing, intends to ever actually marry (a man!).
Not only can they not model real marriage, neither can they model real celibacy, as a couple of maiden aunts cculd do. They model deeply abnormal sexual and emotional relations.
I say this with sadness, because I know virtuous lesbian co-mothers as well. In one couple, the one woman is a special ed teacher for the deaf, and the other is an Episcopal priest(ess)! And yes, they have parenting skills, warm interactive ways, and good intentions.
I like them a lot, and I am not against their raising a child together --- if they were celibate.
But they are exposing their child, alas, to emotionally skewed, abnormal coupledom. As long as they are depending on each other for disordered sexual gratification, they should be considered ineligible to adopt.
Mother-Father couples, please meet the challenge and adopt these children.
Lesbian couples, I pray you will see the spiritual and emotional necessity of getting past the sexual co-dependency and living as sisters. Isn't sisterhood, as we used to say, powerful?
Plus, they are so KIND they targeted and attacked a little self-supporting mother-and-0father family with FIVE CHILDREN. They are actively hostile toward normal families.
